My Mom has been cared for by Preferred Care for 8 years. They meet her needs and I could not be happier with the service they provide
Last week Kofi from Preferred Care at Home left our home after taking care of my Father Ralph Polise who passed away from Alzheimer’s. My Mom Kathy Polise, my Brother Bill Fisher and I agree that we could not have had anyone better with us during our difficult time.
Kofi was kind, caring, respectful, compassionate, and patient. Just to name some of his positive attributes. A great person who I am now proud to call my friend. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to extend my highest praise and thank you for the exceptional way our family was treated. We were blessed to have had him with us and there are no words we can say to express our gratitude.
Before Ralph came back home, he was at a rehab facility where we struggled with terrible care and communication. In the end, it was a peaceful and positive ending to Ralph’s life. Under the circumstances, Kofi performed perfectly. It was refreshing to spend time with him. It’s rare that I come across someone who is genuine and views the world from a positive lens.
I am a business owner myself. I know how difficult it can be to find talented people that fit within my company’s culture. He did his job so well if it were me, I would do anything I could to hold on to him and expand his skill set. Now I am thinking out loud. There is real talent there so if he wants to, I would offer him a promotion as maybe a compassionate care trainer or a management position. I would pay him a premium because the result will be more recommendations from people like us. He has a knack for family and patient relationships. If you get his back and take care of him, you will see a return on investment for sure.
Speaking with Amanda was a huge help. She was amazing with her insight and extremely helpful with her suggestions. We decided that “staying at home” was not going to work for my mother-in-law” but I would highly suggest calling Amanda about their services.
My husband and I were blessed to find the fine services of Preferred Care when my father needed a weeklong live-in caregiver while we were away. Management was thorough and thoughtful in finding out what our needs were and quickly provided someone with whom we felt very comfortable. We had no qualms about leaving my father, and our home, in her care. When his needs started to require daytime attention several times a week, we didn’t hesitate to call Preferred Care. The same professional and friendly service has been provided by both management and caregivers. We had one who wasn’t a good match for his needs, and with no problem we were provided with a new woman the next day. We normally have had a roster of three caregivers, and that’s been good for developing a relationship with my father. Each one has kept a detailed record of the days’ activities, which has been a great help to us. We have found each person to be professional, pleasant and compassionate. My father has looked forward to the visits from his ladies and has enjoyed bringing them into his world, which is the best compliment Preferred Care can get.
The caregivers that we had for my husband during his journey were well-trained, experienced and truly dedicated. We did however, need to work hard to keep the team from being reassigned by management because our caregivers were excellent, respected and in demand by other clients. Yes, some caregivers that were substitutes were not trained for the tasks required in a more demanding situation like ours, but once understood, they were moved to other clients where their skills could be better utilized. Our caregivers were hardworking, honest people who took pride and responsibility for their roles in my husband's and our families lives. Many of our caregivers were also working and or school to improve their skills. Our caregivers also worked well as a team and the management allowed us to all work things out together, and supported us when we needed it.
