Well I read all these postings I really think that everyone has its own opinion. I came to live in Carriage Mobile Homes 11 years ago. I bought my house and completely renovated my home. I see some people on this website complain but remember rent is high anywhere you go to live. Living in this community you have access to all the amenities in Sussex County. The people in Carriage Mobile Home Community are very friendly and respectful. The owners are very good people. I give them a 5 because they do keep up the property. If you have visited other mobile home communities you would change your mind because they are run down with people who are not productive to society so I think it is good for the owners to have an extensive background checks and make sure there community stays safe.
My wife and I are paying $1050/month to live in what I would he describe as a 60 year old tin can with zero insulation, holes in the floor, peeling paint, old carpets, busted kitchen cabinets, old refrigerator, leaking HVAC system, and we flood outside every time it rains heavy. The landlord invested a decent amount of money in repairing the old failed drain pipe for the streets outside and ruined our "front yard" creating a burm to control the water he claimed was flooding us. It didn't solve our problem and other steps have been taken, but we still flood. What's actually needed is a trench drain, but he apparently won't do it because it was my solution, that would actually work. I also had a reoccurring problem with the bathroom toilet. I asked for a new one that is more modern that wouldn't constantly require service. They said no, I bought a new one, replaced it, and asked that just the cost of the unit be deducted from my rent, and they refused. Long story short, money is all that matters to some people, it's obvious that's the case here. On another note, the other people that live in this community are wonderful, very friendly, kind people.
I've been renting here for a little over 6 months. Very extensive background check to get in. The neighbors are friendly and everyone works together to take care of the community. There isnt much to do and the yards are very small but for the price, you really cant beat it. Honestly, I would never have expected it when I first saw the place. Most of the mobile homes are pretty dated, but a large portion of people do own their own. Just beware of the bears getting into the garbage in summer. Really annoying.
I live here, and i love it. Its a very friendly neighborhood, and the houses aren't too big but thier also not too small. Im only 13 and there's allot of kids around here who live here. Its a save enough neighborhood to let ur kids roam around by thier self or ride a bike by the pond or around ur street. I just love it here.
