Wonderful places here in barnegat
Nice short trail (white trail 2 miles) with small inclines. Good walk did it in under an hour. Found an interesting tree that was mostly burt out in the trunk but was still alive. Idk how to add photo but it's really neat. I Recommend this trail Parking lot is small and entrance is unpaved.
After having walked the Barnegat branch trail yesterday, it was nice to get away from straight and flat terrain. There is a 2 mi loop with only moderate hills to be climbed. It goes through a marshy creek area which supports a lot of moss and lichen. It may sound odd, but on a cold January day it was the moss and lichen that added some color to the walk. The red trail has some chutes that I think mountain bikers would love. I put in a picture of one of them. Overall it was a great walk with my dog Molly. I parked in the lot for the ball fields because from there I could access either this park or the Barnegat branch trail. Also, there is a two-way entrance and exit from the ballpark parking lot but not the park itself.
Amazing hidden gem in Barnegat. Great place to take your dog on a walk away from it all. Nice little creeks for them to splash in along the way.
These is a nice park for a quick 1.75 hike tucked away off busy roads. The trails are well maintained, wide, and inviting even in winter. It must be beautiful in the spring, summer and fall when the colors vary. We expect to visit here quite a few more times. It’s especially nice that there is a bathroom that appears to be open year round.
