Went to the island with MATES, one of the best days ever!
What an awesome place.
You would never know you were in NJ.
A great escape from everyday life.
Saturday 7/13/2002, my wife and I took our late puppy Nixie (she was still literally a puppy then) to paddle here in my two-seat folding sea kayak. Beautiful. And I'm originally from Florida.
Sedge is such a beautiful place especially on a great weather day. Water always is very clean and clear. Make sure you get one of the maps and try to plan for wind and tide. Be prepared to paddle hard because the tidal currents are very strong. Ospreys are everywhere but try to see the falcons at their raised igloo stand.
This is a great place to beach comb if you have a boat. I often find incredible pieces of driftwood washed up there. BUT unfortunately you also see the amount of plastic trash being tossed in the bay or blown into the water. The fishing can be really good if you know the tides and fish them right.
