Very informative center with nice exhibits about the park and surrounding area. The nature walk towards the ocean and bay area well maintained with signage about the wildlife. Everything is kid friendly and the bathrooms are clean.
I went out of season but it was really neat to see the outside of the building, the grounds and the whale jaw bones that were 13 feet long.
The nature center has a variety of things to interest kids and adults- tanks with fish, turtles, and a snake, touch and feel exhibits, ect. There is an outdoor kids area/trail and paths leading from the center.
Unfortunately when I visited they were not fully open, but from what I could see just walking around the area it was beautiful. You do definitely want some bug spray however.
Awesome trails, huge beach with sugar sand. You can see the Barnegat lighthouse and LBI. The fishing is so fun. You can drive a 4×4 on the beach with permit. Kyaking and canoeing has a special area to go out on the water. There is even a place for swimming and a really nice beach house for bathrooms. I've been coming to the Island for years spending the summers and this was the first time exploring the park. Truly amazing.
