I love history and architecture, and this place was a mixture of both. A lot of the charm and woodwork was still in place. You feel like you are in a hallmark movie, if you go during the holidays. The hosts were attentive and super friendly. I felt like I was visiting family. I only took one star off because we didn't really have much of a good breakfast. It was just hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal and some croissants. I don't know if it changes per day, or if that's the normal. If you don't mind the breakfast, then it is super romantic.
Had a wonderful stay here. The owners were lovely and very attentive. Our room and the main house was beautiful. A great place to stay in a peaceful and picturesque setting.
Absolutely gorgeous setting and vintage-decorated rooms. Every piece of furniture and ornamentation was fascinating, as is the history of the house. Iris and Rafi are the most gracious hosts imaginable. Breakfast was delicious with eggs, homemade oatmeal fruit-nut muffins, and freshly-made almond and peanut butters. Lovely stay.
Hosts Iris and Rafi were absolutely charming and made sure my 3 night visit was pleasant.
My room (Pink) was spacious and very quiet. I enjoyed reading about the history of the house while having morning tea.
Location was convenient to many Northern NJ locations I was visiting, while serving as a peaceful retreat. Everything was exactly what I was hoping for.
We had such a nice time here! The owners are so sweet and so friendly and the house is cute and comfortable, but also historic and authentic. The downstairs has a nice TV and a cute sitting area by the fireplace and the dining room where breakfast is served each morning. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and I believe at least two of them have their own bathroom and then there is another shared bathroom in the hallway for the rooms that don't have their own bathroom. We went to celebrate my birthday and the owner even brought out a bottle of wine which was super sweet. They also have a great backyard with some chairs and a fire pit and a hammock in good weather. They had great local recommendations and we were so impressed with the local restaurant and brewery and coffee shop and even the chocolate shop was amazing. It's a small town, but in less than a 2 minute drive you can get to all of those great spots. We are already planning on coming back and we want to bring friends next time.
