We booked an overnight stay at Minerals Hotel specifically for a relaxing couples getaway after the holidays. While the amenities themselves are appealing on paper, including pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, spa services, and adult-oriented dining, the overall experience fell short due to the hotel’s unclear identity.
Despite being marketed in many ways as an adult-leaning spa destination, the property was overwhelmingly crowded with unattended children and teenagers. The hotel is relatively small, making it nearly impossible to avoid them. Throughout our stay, there were large groups of kids ranging from very young to teens in common areas, pools, hot tubs, and even wandering through the spa spaces with their parents. At one point, I watched two young children, approximately four and seven years old, rummaging through the breakfast buffet area before it had even opened, with no adult supervision in sight. It underscored how little oversight there seemed to be in shared spaces. We also heard kids loudly counting out loud in the hallway, up through the sixties, while playing hide-and-seek, which echoed through the floors and made it difficult to relax in our room.
In the evenings, groups of teens were blasting music and congregating in shared areas for hours, which completely disrupted the quiet, relaxing atmosphere we expected. While there are posted age rules for certain amenities, enforcement seemed extremely difficult for staff, resulting in adults attempting to relax alongside teenagers in hot tubs and plunge pools. I genuinely felt for the staff, who appeared to be trying to manage an impossible balance.
The spa services themselves were excellent, and the experience during our treatments was relaxing and well done. That said, even within the spa areas, there were children wandering through common spaces, which again detracted from the sense of calm typically expected in a spa environment.
The food was very good, and both the restaurant and spa staff were friendly, professional, and attentive, which was one of the highlights of the stay. However, for the price point, we stayed in the Presidential Suite as part of a spa package, the experience felt underwhelming. One of the main reasons we booked the Presidential Suite was the dual-sided fireplace between the bedroom and bathroom, which was a major selling point for a couples stay. Unfortunately, it was not functioning properly upon arrival. Maintenance responded quickly and was able to get it to turn on, but afterward there was a persistent gas smell for the remainder of our stay. Because of this, we did not feel comfortable using it and ultimately missed out on one of the primary features we paid extra for.
There were also signs of disorganization and wear. Although we were granted a late checkout, our key cards were deactivated early and housekeeping knocked regardless. While staff apologized, it added to the sense that details were not being managed carefully.
Another concern was the strong smell of marijuana throughout the hallways, which was surprising for a smoke-free hotel, particularly given the number of minors present throughout the property.
Ultimately, this hotel seems unsure of what it wants to be. It cannot realistically function as both a family destination and a couples spa retreat at the same time without clearly defined and enforced adult-only spaces or designated adult-only time periods. As it stands, the amenities look like they are designed for couples, but the environment does not support that experience.
This may work for families looking for a casual overnight stay, but for couples seeking a quiet, adult-focused spa escape at this price point, I would not recommend it.
I stayed at Mineral Hotel for two nights before New Year’s Eve, followed by another two nights at a more expensive luxury resort nearby. Here’s how Mineral Hotel stands out:
Overall my experience is much better than a lot of the negative Google reviews. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a king bed, and the room was impressively spacious—larger than most resort or hotel rooms in the tristate area.
The outdoor pool is stunning in the snowy season, and the indoor pool was also very nice, though families should expect quite a few kids. The food overall was decent, service was consistently good, and we really enjoyed the goat yoga, which was a fun and unique experience.
My only minor complaints are that daytime activities felt a bit limited, and the bed was on the firmer side—not ideal, but manageable.
The absolute highlight of our stay was the fine-dining experience at Restaurant Latour. The food and service there were truly excellent and well worth it.
We had such an amazing time. We go every year for my daughter's gymnastics competition. We LOVE this resort. We only have 2 complaint. The first one being that the outside bar closed at 8pm and so did the store in the lobby. We would have liked to hangout with friends a little later than 8pm. The 8pm closings were on Friday and Saturday night. The second one was all of her friends were on different floors. They should ask what gym that they are affiliated with and have a block for all of the different gyms this was the girls all stay put and don't have to roam the entire hotel for their friends. Other than that it was a great experience. We cant wait until next year and I hope that these minor issue get addressed. Thank you for a great time. I
So definitely there were some nice people working here but for me and my family the food was cafeteria quality at best. We all felt nauseous after each meal. The arcade is insane, just save your money as almost everything in there is crazy expensive and barely works. Not the cleanest resort or the most comfortable. Beds are cheap, and if your room is not near the lobby every event is a journey lol. This place needs a serious upgrade stat. Also can we get a head chef here with some standards. For the prices we paid for food it should have at least been decent. It’s a cool place if you dont care about money and can afford mediocre quality for premium price. Not trying to dump on these guys but there were several instances where we were severely disappointed during our 4 day stay. This place can be turned around they just need to put some love in the soup.
