This state park is excellent. They have ample parking, their visitor center has very good displays and a small shop, and they have frequent events throughout the year. The fields are also large, so if you have children or a scout group, this would be a great place to fill them in on the history and then walk them around.
It's a great site with a informative visitors center that is free. They have a large parking lot, but i went in the middle of the week and it was pretty much empty. The self guided tour is informative, but I believe it could use some more signage. It goes through the middle of an apple orchard.
What a great park to visit when you're in Monmouth County NJ. Tons of history with information plaques explaining the battles that occured here. Clean facilities, large parking lot, nice welcome center, plenty of picnic tables.. and all at no cost.
The park itself is gorgeous, with trails thru the woods, a pond, open fields, etc.
They have an excellent Revolutionary War reenactment every year in June to show how the battle was won. There are tents set up during the reenactment where you can purchase colonial period wares, clothing, books, food, etc. There is also a central building with a museum dedicated to the Revolutionary War and New Jersey's part that it played during the war. It is a great day out in a lovely park!
Wonderful. Excellent explanation of the context of the battle, the prior movements of the British and Continental forces, nearby skirmishes before main battle, battle positions on a bi-hourly basis, the ending and retreats.
There's a bookstore, but you need to check the hours. There are other times for reenactments and tours.
There are picnic areas and trails. Well done!!
