Been a student since mid May 2025 and gotta say I am having the best time ! Hadn't really tapped into my physical artistic side (I do a lot of online content creation), so this surprised me how addictive and fun it can be. The studio is very well equipped many wheels, a dedicated glazing room, Hand building areas as well as different clay body and firing options.
You get so much included when you sign up for a session, including Open studio hours (multiple days a week), Glazes, Firing, throwing, use of all the studio tools.
Wonderful community I feel very much part of. And oh boy, there are some creative people! My instructor Stuart is awesome, not to mention a wicker sense of humor :) All the instructors and the owner Rachel are very personable. I cannot recommend this studio enough. What are you waiting for? Come join us !
I started taking classes here last spring, and it has been a great experience. The studio offers both cone 6 and cone 10 firing with many different clay and glaze options. Firing and glazing is done frequently so turnaround time on your work is quick. The instructors are all very knowledgable and willing to help, and open studio is offered for students 5 days per week. Recent renovations have opened up additional wheel throwing, hand building, and shelf space. Various workshops including raku firings are offered multiple times per year. Glad to be apart of such a great community.
A beautiful studio & boutique.
I have been a student at OBHP for almost a year now, I’ve taken classes with Rachel, Stuart & Lori and they are all so skilled, knowledgeable and patient. We have made some really fun projects in class. I’ve learned so much from the lessons. The class I am apart of has become like a group of friends to me. Rachel has not only created a safe place for creativity & art, she has created a community.
Her boutique, Clay + Cloth, has gorgeously displayed gifts(for yourself or for someone else) & pottery. You’ll find the perfect gift for anyone in there from earrings to candles to mugs made by Rachel in her studio. I highly recommend stopping by and shopping.
I’ve been taking lessons at this pottery studio for about 18 months and I just love it! I take a 2.5 hr lesson weekly and attend as many open studio sessions as I can fit in. I’ve learned so much about the art of wheel throwing and glazing from my instructor Rachel (she is also the owner). But in addition to this being a huge creative outlet for me, it’s also a wonderful and supportive community of fellow potters and instructors. The camaraderie and chitchat and laughter and advice that flow throughout the studio is invigorating. I always leave this pottery studio happier and more peaceful than when I arrived.
I feel so lucky to be a student at OBHP! After a year at another studio, I moved here this Winter 2024 to learn more skills...and that has truly happened already, after 8-10 classes! Rachel, the very talented potter and owner, runs it as a true art studio - from beginners to more experienced potters all working together and collaborating (Its like Pottery Montessori). She wants to make it a great experience for all of her students and gives lots of individual instruction and encouragement. I also love the community of kind and friendly fellow potters and teachers I have met so far, who are always willing to share their tips and pottery wisdom - along with lots of fun and laughs in between our pot throwing creations! I just took a Big Bowl Workshop last week...5 hours! It was so much fun and cammeraderie. I added some photos from that day
