My New Favorite Spot — Richard A. Rutkowski Park, Bayonne

You know that moment when you think you’ve seen everything in your neighborhood and then bam! You discover a whole new side of it? That was me at Richard Rutkowski Park. My neighbor invited me for a walk, and I thought, “Sure, why not?” Little did I know I was about to uncover my new favorite 5-star walking and running spot!

The place is massive, and that’s an understatement. I clocked in 8,000 steps in just an hour and a half, and honestly, I could’ve gone longer. The breeze from the Hackensack River was so refreshing it felt like nature’s air conditioning. The views? Unreal. The walking bridge gives you a gorgeous river view, and the sounds of the birds - all kinds, chirping in perfect surround sound made it feel like a living, breathing postcard.

There’s everything you’d want for a peaceful yet energizing walk:
🌿 Plenty of greenery and open space
🚴‍♀️ Smooth trails for walking, running, and biking
🧺 Picnic tables if you need a chill spot
🎠 A playground for the kids
♿️ Ramps for accessibility (major plus!)
🅿️ Tons of parking and clean trash bins everywhere — small detail, big win.

It’s safe, serene, and beautifully maintained. The kind of place that makes you forget your phone and just breathe. I can’t wait to come back for a sunset walk and I bet the view is pure magic when the sky starts painting itself.

If you’re local and looking for your next go-to wellness walk or weekend unwind spot, this is it. Clean, calm, community-friendly, and absolutely beautiful. Join my walk therapy club! 🚶🏻‍♀️

Richard Rutkowski Park — where every step feels like a mini-vacation. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Amazing and well maintained broad walk over the pond There weren't too many people, so we had a soothing walk among the willows. The bird shelters were clean and provided an ample space to view.
There are plenty of bird signs and a bridge in the background

Beautiful peaceful park, i had a picnic here with my husband and we enjoyed it so much, the park is big, with different trails, lots of parking, areas to play sports, and a incredible view of the river

Amazing, amazing park. It is big enough for everything. Workout, biking, jogging, walks, picnics anything you want to do. It even has a playground for kids but it closed due to the virus. It has a nice lake with swimming ducks different from the river.
    It’s a beautiful, relaxing area.

This place doesn't exist. Don't go here. There's absolutely nothing there. There's no beautiful scenery. There's no boardwalk and bike path through a marshland populated by all sorts of wildlife. It's just a void on the shore of Newark Bay.

All kidding aside, it's so peaceful and quiet since it's this little hidden gem. The sunsets are *stunning*. There's several species of bird you can spot over the course of the year. There's even a family of skunk hiding out in the bushes. The northern section of the park has a butterfly garden planted and maintained by a local group that is just so beautiful once everything is blooming.

My wife and I will take daily strolls through the park just to escape to nature, even if just for an hour.
