This restaurant serves delicious, authentic Italian food that is consistently outstanding - We dined here 5 times prior to posting this review and each time our meals were superb - My partner suffers from GERD and his food issues are always happily addressed - Shout out to Joanne, a stellar server on every level who we always request - We continually say we will try "something different" but always end up ordering the Wedge Salad, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Linguine with Clam Sauce (white), and Zuppa de Pesce or Penne con Broccoli Rabe & Salciccia - The atmosphere is quiet and elegant and the complimentary bread is warm and crusty - We look forward to our next dining experience here this coming Saturday!
New Year's Eve dinner, upon arrival the greeting was warm, friendly. Great table prepared for our party of 6! We felt so welcomed. Wonderful, warm and friendly waitress. One minor hiccup with one app that was handled beautifully. Our food was delicious and plentiful. Dessert was scrumptious. Very pretty restaurant. Looking forward to going back!
The food is great; the service is wonderful. I had Chicken Saltembocca, which was so good that I plan to have it again when we visit in early January (see photo).
Several other folks had the Eggplant Parm and raved about it.
The menu prices are quite reasonable.
It's a BYO restaurant, so don't forget to bring your favorite wine.
Since the service is first class, too, Sal D's is an all-around great dining experience.
We keep coming back because we love that Sal's, while it's now located in the suburbs, still retains the essence of a classic Chambersburg eatery. The food is still old school delicious Italian, you get value for your money and the service is friendly and helpful. Last night, for example, I had their Chicken Caprese --- boneless chicken breast in a white wine sauce on a bed of spinach and roasted red peppers topped with Mozzarella cheese (see photo) with a side of pasta (photo) and a salad (photo) all for just $28. Crunchy Italian bread is included (photo). I mention the bread because some area restaurants are now charging for bread (unbelievable!).
Back again for another great Sal D Saturday night. This time I chose Chicken Marsala, a classic, with four (!) chicken cutlets swimming in a delicious Marsala wine sauce and a ton of mushrooms (see photo). Yum!
They had the most wonderful staff and service.
The food was delicious and well-presented.
The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy.
So close to a five-star rating for this place. Started with an absolutely beautiful seasonal peach salad and a stuffed artichoke done in the traditional style. Had the lobster ravioli next, but the sauce seemed to have way too much lemon in it and it was kind of an aggressive flavor with the ravioli and the crab meat on top was a little too cold for the dish finished with a creme brulee but only one small portion of it was actually brulee'd on the top. Everything else was very soft, although the flavor was there. Was there for a show and the place was packed from wall to wall and it felt like maybe they were a little understaffed for the event, and the waitress was getting noticeably frustrated. Will definitely be back and give this place a second chance.
