Caring teachers, chaotic management.
Review (2025):
My child attended this YMCA daycare in 2025. The classroom teachers were wonderful, but management was chaotic and often unresponsive. I repeatedly asked to be called before my child reached a full meltdown and was ignored until things became traumatic. Caring staff need better leadership—families deserve consistent communication and support.
All three of my children attended the South Mountain YMCA preschool and had a fantastic experience. My youngest is there now and is being taught by one of the teachers that both of my older ones had as well. It’s a warm, supportive environment that they have thrived in. My youngest has made huge strides this year and made new friends, too. They spend plenty of time outdoors on the playground and taking walks, and there are optional enrichment programs, too. I have no doubt she’ll be ready for kindergarten next year. The Y is one of the few local programs that offers a full-time, full day preschool, which has been crucial to helping me to continue my career. I’m happy to recommend the South Mountain YMCA for child care, as well as preschool and it’s aftercare programs, which my older children now participate in. After nearly seven years with the Y, they truly do feel like family.
