The fairest comparison is the Black Horse Tavern in Mendham and The Station by FAR has waaaaaay better food. It’s upscale bar food, so this isn’t Ristorante MV or anything. But, for a casual meal with kids or a family or a big group, The Station wins on quality and taste. Ceasar salad and wings were delicious, kids had buttered pasta and mozzarella wings and ate it all. Oh and the apple pie was crazy good - perfectly crusty crust!
Go to The Station!!
We stopped here for dinner while traveling. The place was packed and had live music outside. The spinach salad was very good and very satisfying and my adult dining partner enjoyed the cobb salad. The pizza was good by my kid's standards but not crspy enough for my taste. The pretzel bites again were enjoyed by my child but kind of tasted like the ones you microwave from the tub at the supermarket. For some reason the fries were awful and tasted like they were stale, which is kind of baffling for a burger and fries place that is moving a lot of food and I just had to send them back. The server argued with me about the freshness, which I also didn't love. I have eaten a fry before. I would have been happy with even a soggy fry if it was fresh, but not something that tastes like it has gone through defrost multiple times. Overall, it is a great location and seems really family friendly but the food was mostly disappointing.
The Station in Bernardsville was a great happy hour experience. The location is super convenient—right across from the train station—which makes it easy to get to. The space has a relaxed yet stylish vibe, perfect for casual meetups or professional gatherings. Great drinks, awesome appetizers, and a comfortable atmosphere made it a solid spot for connecting with others. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Visited the station for the first time in a few years. They’ve really expanded their outdoor space since COVID and it looks great! Food was alright. Nothing really blew us away, but likewise nothing was disappointing. All of the staff members were very kind and accommodating to allergies. They had fair prices for food and beverages alike. Cobb salad was pretty good and I really enjoyed my strawberry mojito.
Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for somewhere new to dine outdoors, and/or if you’re looking to grab a quick bite for a fair price during happy hour.
