Theresa's South

I went here with a group of 7, and we had early reservations, as that was all we were able to get - weeks in advance! We were seated right away, and greeted by our server, who brought us waters & bread. He then gave us a few minutes to take a look at the menu. Everyone in our group pretty much knew what they wanted to order, so there were no questions for our server, and our order was placed (3 appetizers for the table, and 7 meals). The appetizers (2 salads & calamari) came out rather quickly, and were pretty good - but nothing that really excited us! The main course followed, again pretty quickly. The portion sizes were fairly large, enough to be filling, but not over-kill. Everyone thought their food was prepared as requested - there were no complaints there! We didnt see too much of our server (if at all) after our meals arrived - we did get one water refill which may have been from the main server, but I don't recall (and it was the only refill of water we received). Our server did come back after our meals were finished to see if we wanted dessert, which we declined. He then presented us with our check - it seemed to be a little higher than expected (note - this place is byob), as we really only had a main course & 3 appetizers for the table - and we pretty much only ordered menu items - not specials. Overall, I would say that we all enjoyed our meals, and that the service was ok. I'm not sure if I would go back again, as I would like to give other similar restaurants in the area a try. If you are looking for a nice meal, I'm pretty confident you will get one here!

Picturesque Dining in Bay Head!

We had a beautiful evening at Theresa’s South in Bay Head — the temperature was in the high 70s, and the streets were buzzing with beachgoers and the mouthwatering aromas coming from this cozy gem of a restaurant.

Inside, the seating was close but felt intimate, and we ended up making “dinner friends” with the tables on either side of us — it’s that kind of warm, welcoming place. Being BYOB, we enjoyed our wine while appreciating the simple, limited menu, which actually made it easier to relax and enjoy without decision fatigue.

From appetizers to dessert, everything was fresh and full of flavor. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly cared about our experience. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and location.

When you come to Theresa’s, don’t just expect a great meal — expect to make friends. If you’re considering outdoor seating, aim for spring or fall — summer can be a bit too warm. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was amazing! Many thanks to the chef and his crew in the kitchen! Love that Theresa’s South is a BYOB too. Staff were kind and welcoming. Special shoutout to the hostesses who we shared a little laugh with at the door for kicking the evening off right and the food runners who worked hard throughout the evening to ensure we received our meals hot and had the extra touches. Overall a great experience!

We were the first ones there on Friday night and it was perfect. The hostesses were so welcoming, the room was beautifully decorated with fresh red roses. I got the strawberry and fig salad which was so refreshing and the crab cake dinner. Can’t wait to come again and bring friends.

Tables very close. Bring your own. Parking on street. Portions were scant when came to meat. Had the Braised meat gnocchi and filet mignon risotto and found the meat in both dishes extremely scant. Especially for the price point. The dessert, a rice pudding special was fantastic. Service impeccable. Drink glasses very, very small. Picture the smallest water glass made. Also, the entrees came out a few minutes after ordered which makes me question of they just keep them under a heat lamp?
