Whether you're a beginner or a long-time student of yoga , Cheryl has the remarkable ability to know what you need and how you can help improve yourself and your practice. It is her thoughtful, kind and knowledge-based approach that makes her a 5-star teacher and wellness guide. She's one of a kind!
I have been practicing yoga for many years. It helps me deal with daily stress and helps relieve aches and pains. I need yoga. Last year, I tore my ACL and had surgery. The worst part for me was not being able to do yoga. My PT mentioned Cheryl's classes and I am so thankful she did. Cheryl helped me continue my practice within my limits. We started with small movements and added more every week. Thanks to her I was able to do yoga and help heal and recover my range of motion. Cheryl is truly amazing, caring and so very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her. Her classes are truly unique and amazing.
I wish I found Cheryl sooner. I have been a yogi for 18 years and 2 years ago I was told by doctors to stop practicing due to lower back issues. After trying injections, physical therapy and acupuncture, with nothing helping,I decided I was going to live with the pain and get back to my practice for my mental health. So I tried many gentle classes in the area but after about a month I was right back to where I started...in pain. I found Cheryl online and decided to inquire about her classes. She took the time to speak to me on the phone and said “I can help you”. I was skeptical but after 6 months I can honestly say she was right. She retrained me to practice yoga for me. Not how it looks in Yoga Journal or the yogi on the mat next to me but how to practice for the body I am in today. My pain has diminished tremendously and I am getting better and stronger everyday. Cheryl has so much knowledge of yoga that she shares with you which helps you implement it both on and off the mat. I would highly recommend this wonderful yogi, if you are starting out, are rehabbing an injury or just want to further your practice. Her classes are like having a private session within a small group class setting. You get personal attention without paying for a private session. She takes the time to get to know you so she can help you develop your own personal practice. I am very grateful I get to practice with her.
Cheryl's teaching style is unique in that she devolops an individual yoga practice for each student. I have benefited from Cheryl's years of knowledge and gentle approach as a new yoga student. Cheryl's classes provide a safe, calm and nurturing environment in which to practice yoga. I have learned to make the connection of mind and body with Cheryl's guidance and expertise. I continue to be grateful to be practicing with Cheryl as I know I have much more to discover about myself. Cheryl's style of teaching has kept me motivated to focus on being the best version of myself I can be.
As a physical therapist and yoga practitioner, I both recommend Cheryl to my patients and enjoy being her student. She has a depth of experience and dedication to her own practice that shine through in the way she listens, cues and speaks to her clients. Her understanding of alignment, and appropriate use of the body (that is, when to know how much is enough, where to elongate, where to relax, how to progress) is top notch. Her classes have an intimacy and personal touch that’s uncommon. She is able to give you a framework to build your own practice that is tailored to your needs and respects the bodies restrictions while at the same time nudging them along a path to wellness. I would recommend Cheryl to both beginners who want to start yoga with the proper foundation, people recovering from an injury or even advanced students and teachers who would like a trained eye to revitalize their own practice.
