Delicious burger's and beyond Amazing staff. I’m greeted with a friendly face everytime I come. Speed of getting food is great and so much better than any fast food chain burger options. Try the bear box- any choice of burger, mix of onion rings and fries, and a drink! Amazing value!!

Nestled along the scenic NY 17A in Greenwood Lake, Big Bear Burger stands as a cozy beacon for those craving classic American fare. The unassuming facade invites hungry patrons to step inside this small yet vibrant eatery, where the scent of grilled meats mingles with the promise of indulgence. With a focused menu that champions burgers, hot dogs, and fries, this spot delivers comfort food with a playful twist.

The chilly weather outside made the prospect of a hearty lunch all the more appealing. As snowflakes danced down from the gray sky, I found myself drawn to the warmth inside. The extensive menu featured an array of options, each seemingly more tempting than the last. The burgers, in particular, caught my eye, but as I scanned the offerings, one special stood out like a beacon: the Pilgrim Burger. Yes, you read that correctly—a smash burger adorned with American cheese, stuffing, beef gravy, and a generous drizzle of cranberry sauce. For someone with a penchant for all things Thanksgiving, this was a culinary dream come true.

Upon placing my order for a classic cheeseburger and the aforementioned Pilgrim Burger, I felt a rush of excitement. The anticipation was palpable, and when the burgers finally arrived, they did not disappoint. Each bite revealed a perfect balance of flavors; the patties were expertly cooked to a delightful crispness on the edges, while the cheese melted in a golden cascade. Even the most ardent condiment lover might find it hard to improve upon the natural flavors present—a true testament to the kitchen's skill.

Of course, no visit to Big Bear would be complete without sampling their renowned Dancing Bear Fries. These golden beauties, generously topped with Cheez Whiz and beef gravy, provided a savory indulgence that was impossible to resist. Each fry was a vessel of melted deliciousness, transforming a simple side into a star attraction.

As if that weren’t enough, I was nudged by Joe, one of the staff members—clearly an enthusiast of his own menu—toward the Dumpster Dog. This hot dog arrived dressed in a playful combination of relish, Cheez Whiz, and the intriguingly named Dumpster Sauce. The flavors melded harmoniously, delivering a sweet-savory punch that left me delightfully satisfied. It was an unexpected adventure for the taste buds, one that I’d happily embark on again.

To wash down this feast, I opted for the classic duo of Coca-Cola and root beer—refreshing choices that complemented the meal beautifully. Adding to the charm of the visit, Big Bear Burger offers a complimentary pup cup for furry companions, ensuring that everyone in the family leaves happy. My dog, with her tail wagging furiously, may have enjoyed her treat even more than I enjoyed my meal.

Though the weather outside was far from ideal for alfresco dining, the cozy atmosphere inside our SUV provided a perfect retreat. As I savored every bite, I couldn’t help but reflect on the essence of Big Bear Burger: great food, excellent service, and a playful spirit that infuses everything they serve. I left with a full stomach and a healthy craving for their next Burger of the Month and perhaps a side of onion rings.

Big Bear Burger may not be the fanciest joint in town, but it certainly knows how to deliver comfort food with a smile.

Beautifully place. With nice seating. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger barely had bacon. It’s a smash style burger. Not a fan.

Stopped by for the first time. Ordering was super easy, staff was friendly. My family ordered 3 different types of fries and 2 different types of burgers. No one was disappointed. The rosemary fries are my new fave. Delicious, will definitely return. My only complaint is the clarity of the ordering speaker, sound was a little muddled but not terrible.

Absolutely perfect smash burgers for a great price; No real need to say more but here I go.

Got a simple double patty bacon cheeseburger. It was fantastic. Asked for a couple of their signature sauces on the side and disappointed myself for not having the guts to just get one on it originally. Cub sauce was probably my favorite but the hot sauce and momma bear sauce were also great. Fries are crinkle cut and nicely sized, not too oily or anything, just what you want to fill a craving. 2 burgers with 2 patties each, 2 orders of fries and 2 sodas was like 30 bucks, which I doubt I could get at even McDonald’s nowadays, but comparing them to any fast food is a disservice to what they provide. The service was incredible as well as I was met by one of the happiest women I’ve seen all week, glad to take my order and answer any questions I had.
All in all I can’t wait to go back, Greenwood Lake has been needing a burger spot like this for a long, long time.
