I visited Breezy Point Tip on Labor Day with friends, and it was a really pleasant experience. The place is calm and beautiful, but what impressed me the most were the sunsets and the amazing sky views. If you enjoy watching sunsets and want to experience a peaceful atmosphere, this is definitely the place to visit.
I have hiked to Breezy Point tip from main Fort Tilden parking lot along the batteries trail crossing through fishermen’s parking lot and then via shore path up to the tip itself. The path to and from Breezy Point Tip area is kind of boring hike but the tip rewards with beautiful views of NY harbor entrance and NYC skyline. Where else you can see all notable high-rises of South Brooklyn and skyscrapers of Manhattan from the same vantage point and fit into the same photo… Note that parking at Fort Tilden was ok in late fall, but in summer you’d have to start from Jacob Riis park lot. Shore path goes below Silver Gull beach club cabanas that were closed off-season but even in summer you should be able to cross as they are located on public land of Gateway National Recreation area.
Great place for fishing, lots of fish. This is my favorite fishing spot. The only problem is getting there. Here's the trick if you don't have a 4x4 permit nor a fishing parking permit. First, just park at jacob riis park parking lot (the only and closest public parking). From there take extra large uber (so you can fit your rods) to breezy surf club but get off right before the surf's security check point. On the right hand side of the road you will see the entrance for the 4x4 cars and the small parking lot for cars with fishing permit also you will see the public restroom right there. From there just take a 10mins walk along beach road. Enjoy. (Don’t worry about the first security checkpoint right around the entrance of the private community, the uber doesn’t have to stop there).
Amazing views of the city, Coney Island, New Jersey, and mainly the ships funneling in and out of NY harbor. While it is free to walk out, it is a long hike down a long, winding, underwater, road. To access you need a beach pass for your 4x4 vehicle.
