I’ve been taking lessons with Brett for the last five months, and I’m so happy I found him! I’m semi retired have more time on my hands, wanted to learn to play guitar, was learning bits, and pieces of songs off YouTube, having a lot of fun, but I felt something was missing. Brett is great! He takes his time breaks everything down so not only can you play something, but you know why and what you’re playing. I was hesitant to pull the trigger on getting lessons on Zoom, I wanted do in person, but zoom is the way to go. It’s a great time saver, and actually it’s snowing out now, so I don’t have to worry about driving and Brett can see everything he knows what he’s doing. He’s definitely a great teacher and picks up on any mistakes. If you want to learn guitar, I highly recommend Brett! You’ll be happy you did!!
I’ve been working with Brett for almost 3 years and he’s simply a great teacher. He’s a Berklee College of Music graduate and knows the theory and guitar technique needed to teach at a very high level. He’s got decades of teaching as well as composing/performing experience…and he loves to teach…he says it’s a “refuge” and “is really lucky to teach what he's passionate about". Brett took me from a real beginner to playing SRV's "Lenny' in 2 1/2 years....not just playing the notes but really understanding the complex rhythm and technique to play correctly and at speed. He approaches learning as a deep dive into the music and is thoughtful in enabling the student to understand, not mimic.
I know lessons aren’t free and for some they may be “expensive”…but if you dedicate yourself to Brett's lessons you'll come out way ahead with actual skill and understanding.
Been playing guitar off and on for years, but never really found love for it as I struggled to teach myself. Once I started taking lessons with Brett, my playing improved DRAMATICALLY. Night and day. He helped fill in all the gaps and backed everything up by patiently teaching me the theory behind the music. I could not recommend him more. He is the dude to go see if you want to get better at guitar.
A little over a year ago, I realized that I had been playing on fretboards for 30 years and still unable to navigate them fluently or reliably. That was lame, and I wanted to change it; I found Brett with a quick Google search. After explaining my goals to him and having a couple lessons - I was moving up and down the strings with a competency I hadn't ever thought I'd achieve. You can be an amazing shredder, and not necessarily be an awesome teacher. BRETT IS BOTH. For anyone "stuck" and looking to Youtube or old dusty books for help - you're wasting time. Actual person here, not a robot...whether a beginner or just need a tune up - reach out to Brett!
I've had a few teachers over the years and without doubt Brett is the best. Rather than just teach whatever he wants, he listened to me and charted a course that fit well with my skill level and goals. I also feel that Brett runs his lessons very efficiently, but the pace was entirely up to me. Some teachers spend half of the time showing off their own skills while the student is left trying to understand how it relates to them. That's not the case with Brett... he is 100% student-focused and makes sure the instruction is clear and relatable. I highly recommend Brett to students of all skill levels.
