It was advertised that a complimentary breakfast is served, got there and and was told by Tarryl that they no longer provide such a while now, and that he can arrange to purchase or refund me $10.
I also booked ocean view, my windows weren't facing the ocean.

The bathroom is new and modernized, can say the same for the rest of the room.
It was my first visit to the island, so i can compare this hotel to others in that vicinity yet.
We had a pleasant stay at Clegg's Hotel for a couple of nights recently in the shoulder season of post-Labor Day September. We had originally reserved a single room rather than a suite, but the hotel allowed us to upgrade at a reasonable price at their own suggestion (at least reasonable given Fire Island prices). We found the staff very helpful and available. Can't beat the location, either, literally steps from the ferry dock and right in the thick of Ocean Beach. Room and hotel were quiet at night, despite us turning in earlier than the other visitors to the village.
One quirk was getting a notice after we made the reservation that the hotel preferred to have check-ins by 4:30 p.m. I don't know if we missed that detail on their website, anywhere, but it did mean that we had to call the hotel to arrange a late check-in, which accommodated our late arrival without an extra charge, and then call them again to assure them that we made the Bay Shore-Ocean Beach ferry before our arrival. Unless we missed that preference on the website, we would have liked to have known that policy before making the reservation.
Another quirk was that the hotel's continental breakfast was unavailable due to the timing of our stay (Thursday and Friday nights), which was either another detail we missed on the website or was notified of after making the non-refundable reservation.
Our bed's mattress was also quite firm. Wasn't an issue for us, but could be an issue for other visitors that prefer softer mattresses.
Still, once we arrived, we had a great, relaxing time in Ocean Beach, with many thanks to Tyler. We did not experience any of the conditions mentioned in other reviews: Our room was clean, the available amenities were surprising (pickleball, bikes, beach stuff, etc.) and is just a nice, laid back place to have as a base when visiting Fire Island.
Would consider staying again when visiting Fire Island.
I had a wonderful stay at Clegg’s Hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, which made for a relaxing experience. The location couldn’t be better, it’s right in the heart of Ocean Beach, just steps away from restaurants, shops, and the beach. It’s the perfect spot if you want convenience and a true Fire Island experience. I would absolutely recommend Clegg’s Hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay!

Clegg’s Hotel had everything we needed for our 4th of July weekend! It was perfectly located and the complimentary beach chairs/umbrellas and bikes made it possible for us to travel light. Tyler went above and beyond helping us during our stay and was gracious enough to mail belongings that we’d left behind. Thank you for everything!
