Excellent Doctor and practice. Highly recommend.
As someone who has been hesitant to engage in therapy for over a decade and avoidant of any services in the past, I can truly say that DBT works. The difference for me is the skills-based approach, which provides ample alternatives for behaviors that I had been using as a crutch, but which were not truly serving me. In DBT, I’ve learned skills that have helped me rethink relationships, slow down and evaluate my decision-making process, tackle difficult emotions, and be mindful of myself and those around me. What is more, DBT has opened my eyes to an entirely new way of looking at the world. So much of what Kim Lehnert and Brian Hanson teach is centered around stopping and taking note of your environment and the circumstances guiding your current situation. If nothing else, this one skill has irreparably reshaped my outlook on even everyday experiences and truly allowed me to take the time to explore and understand myself and the way I react to others, my experiences, my family, my emotions, and my world in a way that is vastly more balanced and more productive for a happy and healthy life.
Dr. Lenhart has changed my life, she has mastered teaching mindfulness and the skills to help deal with my anxieties. The skills work if you put the effort in. Dr. Lenhart recently moved offices. The office is great and makes me feel comfortable whenever I am there. I'm always greeted with a hello from the secretary and it makes you feel welcomed. Without going through treatment with Dr. Lenhart I would still be suffering in my home too scared to do anything, and I'm so thankful that I found this place. I would recommend anyone that is suffering with mental illness to check this life changing place out. Thanks Kim!
Dr. Lehnert is a master of the science that she practices. The therapy that my 17 year old son and family are receiving are aiding our families anxiety issues and the recovery process of our son’s addiction issue as well as our addiction to our son. The skills of practicing mindfulness, regulating our emotions, distress tolerance, and most importantly interpersonal effectiveness have benefited our family tremendously with communicating our feelings to each other without it escalating into a free-for-all! Teens can be demanding and so are their social stressors. As a result of rendering full DBT services over the last 12 weeks; our family is learning how to not blame each other for the past, reduce powerful vulgar emotions, think before reacting, neutralize potential stressors, and most importantly set clear limitations for our children without being badgered or broken down to give in to their impulses & persistence. This has been a god cent in keeping our family together. The greatest benefit is the fact that our son has been guided & inspired to accept and own his past mistakes. As well as learning how to forgive himself and being able to move into more positive journey’s. This therapy has made us aware of very negative patterns in our families behavior and the skills that we are practicing are beginning to improve the quality of our relationships with our children as well as other relationships. Thank you Dr. Kim
