My son (17) and I (44 M) spent two days climbing as pretty much complete beginners. We had Eric on one day and Patty on the next.

From registration to final goodbyes, this was wonderful. Eric got a sense of what we knew and didn’t know, a sense of our goals, taught us some basics, and got us up on the wall(s). He was a great guide: patient and knowledgeable, and simultaneously assessing us and checking in on us, so he could make the right decisions about what to do next. We learned a ton and had a great time.

The second day with Patty was also amazing. She was so patient and instructive, knowing we wanted to end the trip both feeling accomplished and like we knew so much more than when we started. She coached us both through some more challenging (for us) spots, giving real, immediately useful feedback.

It’s clear whatever level you are, they have plenty to teach you or help you with.

Both guides also took amazing photos so we can prove it happened!

    100% satisfied.

Eric sounded was very personable & professional on the phone setting up my session. The paper work/email communications were prompt and clear.
Aaron was a great guide and also very personable. He selected some great climbs in a good sequence, as he evaluated my abilities and limitations.
I had a very memorable day.

I’ve been out ice climbing with EMS a handful of times over the last two years and keep coming back for more. The instructors are great and extremely knowledgeable. The prices and service are unbeatable. We’ve had a blast and can’t wait to take more courses with the school throughout the year. I would highly recommend EMS!

I have been out climbing on ice and rock with EMS several times. I am a novice who requires guides on every outing. Each time I am out with EMS the guides take the time to listen and understand what I want from the current experience.
I climbed with Dan on Saturday February 12th. The warmer weather presented a unique experience. No complaints about 30 - 40 degree temps while ice climbing. The weather did impact the conditions and Dan chose a spot where we could have the best experience. I enjoy learning about the equipment and techniques used in the sport. Dan understood by desire to learn how to set up anchors and invited me to observe as he explained the how and why of the anchoring. Anyone less interested in the equipment wanting to climb all day would have that opportunity as well. We had a great day climbing. We discussed the sport and the wide variety of styles and techniques we could use to climb safely and efficiently. Dan like many of the guides has an ability to be laid back and casual where applicable while maintaining safety as a priority. I cannot say enough about him and his professionalism.
I sent a few emails inquiring about details of the trip. Eric Waldron (climbing school manager) contacted me via phone to answers questions I sent via email and confirm that I had everything I needed. Eric is a prime example of good management and professionalism.
I highly recommend EMS. I have used their services in North Conway, NH as well. They are an excellent team and a great value for the services they provide.

EMS is a Great rock climbing school with certified guides in a perfect location, next to the world famous Gunks cliffs. I recommend the group climbing 101 lesson, it’s a good price and perfect level for gym climbers who aren’t used to the outdoors. I have taken that course maybe five times and it’s somehow always in a different location, and always fun and challenging. Highly recommend!
