Food overall is pretty decent, but they like to price gouge. It seems like every week the price changes on the same item. I ordered 8 strips of bacon and it cost $8 which is insane. Week earlier it was only $4. It cost more than the usual breakfast I order which was the egg whites and potatoes. I know the cost of things have gone up, but seriously! Service is good and fast though.
Excessive price-gouging, gas prices generally 30-40 cents higher than area gas prices, prices for items like canned goods, macaroni and cheese, and chips are absurd, sometimes twice other area convenience stores. Many times the prices are not actually what is listed, either, which bothers me a lot. I am then told that "this is what the computer says" - but it is not OK to list incorrect prices.
What bothers me the most is that ownership tends to make embarrassing excuses like "the economy" or deflects by claiming they rarely have gas card lotteries and that this makes their price-gouging sympathetic for some reason. They don't seem to accept the reality that they are charging excessive prices that have nothing to do with "the economy" - just greed.
The only saving grace is that the employees are extremely friendly and cordial, and the food is cooked very well. I will not be coming here anymore until the issues with price gouging are dealt with without deflecting blame.
I love this place. I drive back and forth between New Haven and western Pennsylvania all the time, and this is the one place I always want to stop at every time during my trip. They have the best prepared deli items already made waiting cold and delicious for you. And they have the best hot sandwiches and prepared deli items in the New York style deli section area being made hot and fresh by all the fantastic really friendly nice staff. It's the greatest roadside gas station deli combo mix that's ever been placed on the path between New Haven and Erie. Highly recommended!!
