As if there weren’t enough places on Governors Island to love, this epic locale is by far the best place to stop, rest, and take in the epic views. Sunsets are veritable Turner paintings; the Statue of Liberty dotting the horizon above the water. To the north, Manhattan’s skyline reflects like a postcard. Hard to understand why one leaves this island -that stated, come prepared for a bit of a sea breeze (regardless of season, the winds pick up at the point)
I came to this place without expectations but it was a beautiful trip! I booked the trip in advance for no cost in Saturday Morning. I recommend people to go there as early as possible for a fresh air and to have experience of the whole island for your own. This is a good place to rest and find tranquility. It is nice to see Manhattan from the other side. The best thing is, they provide a clean toilet. Super amazing!
Although this my first visit and with a destination I will return during the summer time to enjoy the grounds. This was a 10 m. Ride on the ferry from Manhattan. Views are spectacular. There seemed to a winter village going on . But I just went to QCNY spa and enjoyed a day of relaxation.
Very interesting place! Island full of adventures. It has a castle and the fort. Also it has a little farm and a big play ground. It has bike rentals, food court, delicious ice cream. It has an amazing views of Manhatten, New Jersey, stature of Liberty,Freedom Tower! We had a wonderful time there.
What a beautiful island! We exhibited our vintage VW's at a nice car show on the island. The ferry ride over was fun and the views from the island were just amazing. Even though cars are not generally allowed there, (except for special circumstances), we had the privilege of driving along the entire perimeter. Spectacular! Looking forward to returning to spend more time on this historic and special island.
