Beautiful Chapel located in the Greenwood Cemetery. I'd recommend stopping by here if you are in the cemetery. Very quiet and peaceful space.
Probably my favorite church in of NYC. Its not the biggest--quite small in fact-- not the most grand (though it is beautiful) but its so quiet, peaceful and not so many people come here (and I HOPE it stays that way). Once in a while there's some art displays that go on here which are pretty cool. But its always a very tranquil spot, since its inside the cemetery, you'll hear mostly birds chirping and very minimal noise. Such a beautiful haven of peace.
This is one of those amazing hidden gems in Brooklyn. It's tiny, but beautiful and rustic, and almost always completely empty. The stained glass is a treasure, and if you're looking for a spot in the city to sit and think, pray, meditate, or just take a breath, you won't find a better spot than the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel.
Green-Wood Chapel is where I said good bye to my husband of 49 years. The funeral service was beautiful, much like the Chapel itself. The stained glass windows were just gorgeous for this, my most somber day of my life. Anyone in need of a park like cemetery should look into Green-Wood Cemetery and Chapel.
Gorgeous neo-Gothic chapel designed in 1911 by Warren & Wetmore, who also designed Grand Central Terminal. It is a nondenominational space and has hosted private events and the cemetery’s arts programming. Love seeing it from vantage points on all sides.
