We found roaches in our apartment as we were moving in. The super at that time sent over an exterminator. I don’t think the exterminator was very good. He walked around the inside of our apartment and sprayed pesticide on our floor. He did not look for signs of entry. He did not spray around the exterior of our building. For about 2 months, we were finding dead roaches around our apartment. Then the pesticides must have worn out because now we are finding live roaches around the apartment. We are clean people and do our dishes every day. We clean every week, but the roaches keep coming. We’ve tried our own bait from Home Depot, and they still come. This management company is unresponsive. We are trying to get ahold of them to get another exterminator, hopefully a better exterminator come through. But we cannot get an answer or response. When we moved in we were concerned about reviews about the management company being located in Brooklyn and being hard to get ahold of. One of the responses to the review stated that they have a “new management company now” which was supposed to be better. Don’t believe that. The management company works out of Brooklyn, even though the property is on Staten Island. I have never been able to get my “super” on the phone. The one good thing about the apartments is that they are fairly spacious and hot in the winter months, which has been nice in these cold winter days. However, for the price of these apartments, we would expect to get much better service from management, and not have to live in a cockroach infested apartment.
Also, when you walk on the street here in the summer it smells like rotten garbage because the trash containers have no lids and people just dump garbage openly in them. Management piles the bags of trash directly on the sidewalk and it smells pungent. On the hot days, you can taste it in the air.
