Don’t expect to find anything good in this restore, they auction stuff off rather than selling it in the store. Would recommend to donate your stuff somewhere else if you want it to really go to your local community. Very disappointing.
We are working on a house clean out for a compulsive shopper who recently passed away. We hired Valley Junk Pros to pick up in excess of 40 contractor bags this past week along with several 'still in the box' items. EVERYTHING was/is unused. Before pickup I ensured that we met the criteria of what Habitat would accept. The pickup was large and Valley had to come back and when he did we were shocked to see the bulk of the delivery still in his truck. After he delivered I went to Restore to complain and they mostly concentrated on the 'still in the box' new items were wet halfway up due to rain the night before. They explained that it is against their policy to open 'still new in the box' items that show a wet box because it might contain wood. The items packed inside were NOT water damaged. I asked them if we had taken the items out of the box would they have accepted it and they said 'yes'. I relayed to Valley who indicated he will redeliver. They said they could not accept yarn skeins because they don't define that as a 'craft' (I better tell the craft stores) but rather they were 'linens'. The loading dock manager said that some of our donations were 'used' when in fact all of the plastic containers/bakeware/pots/pans/dishes/home decor and numerous other things that I can't think of are UNUSED. He then said our shipment was 'very large' but the manager then said they would be happy to accept large donations. The loading dock manager stated he went through all the bags. If that is true, it is apparent he was picking and choosing of what he wanted to take rather than abiding by what is acceptable (example; FRAMES) on the donation list on Habitat web page. Or it could have been that the weather was a very hot. If it was too much I would have hoped another Restore would have gladly taken it rather than sticking Valley Junk with our unaccepted donation to deal with.
Always something new! I love stopping in here and taking a look at what’s new. Great for a 5 minute perusal or an hour.
Treasure trove! I’ve had multiple scores. Nice coffee table and cool reading chair, plus lots of art.
