Island Mermaid

Food was very good, has a nice sized menu. Right on the waterfront, bay side, we were right at the water, believe there was water beneath us. Got there at dinner opening, so no wait. There's no parking problem as there are no cars on Fire Island. Many parking options at the ferry. Not sure on the amount of people accommodated. Looks easy enough to put tables together, I would definitely call for reservations if a large party.

Great experience, fresh seafood and fresh beer no complaints! Outdoor atmosphere was super nice on a beautiful afternoon and the service was pretty good too.

We had the fresh catch over greens which was swordfish cooked perfectly and also the caesar kale salad with shrimp which was a little overdressed but otherwise zero issues.

Had such a nice meal here! Beautiful view, and a great place to catch a sunset. Food was delicious everything was tender, fresh, and flavorful. Super fun vibe especially during their Burlesque nights!

This was my first time ever visiting Ocean Beach on Fire Island, and I’m glad I chose Island Mermaid. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything on the table was fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. The charcuterie board was loaded and hit every note savory meats, rich cheeses, sweet spreads, and crunchy bread. Perfect mix of taste and texture.

The atmosphere was top notch. Sitting under the tent with the ocean right in front of you made the whole experience feel peaceful and relaxing. The view is beautiful, and you get that true summer beach vibe while enjoying a great meal. The service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out at the right pace.

Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time like I was, this spot is worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back.

After a dismal dinner attempt at another local restaurant, I came to the Mermaid and they saved the day. Gave me (a single diner) a lovely seat by the Bay. My waitress was cheerful, attentive and service was prompt. The owner Scott came by twice to see how I was doing.
I ordered the burger and was very happy with the whole plate - only complaint would be that the portions were too generous!
I will continue to return, great option in Ocean Beach.
