This is the place my wife and I go for our little coffee dates on Sunday mornings. Its a great spot and we know the owner, who built a great business with excellent coffee. Even better, its a nice atmosphere and a very chill environment. The staff are always very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Locust Valley.
Came here this morning for the first time and it was great minus one experience, to no fault of their own, but I have to talk about it. I knew I was going to get a quality cappuccino because I love the beans they use, but it exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend got a drip and the overnight oats which he very much enjoyed as well. The atmosphere was a more modern-aesthetic vibe as opposed to a cozy place, but it was still warm and inviting. I would absolutely return and try more of their many options.
So now the bad experience that pushed us to leave within 10 minutes of being there because I have a hard time biting my tongue and I would NOT have been half as nice as the people who confronted this situation. There was an EXTREMELY rude, condescending, and disrespectful customer that managed to ruin everyone’s experience in a matter of 5 minutes. She couldn’t have treated the employees worse if she tried. They were trying so hard to make sure she understood the complicated drink she was asking for wasn’t going to be what she expected so they could be sure she would enjoy her order, but she wasn’t having it. Wouldn’t listen, just argued and berated them and acted like she was being attacked for some reason.
It got so bad that customers, namely the regulars, were confronting her for ruining the environment and treating the employees so poorly. To which she said “you should all mind your business and these people should be doing their job and do what I’m asking.” Just based on how they jumped to act and strongly defend the staff, I knew that this place has a devoted community that love and respect it and see it as their sacred place of comfort and peace. The employees also handled it so, so well. Being a service worker today is one of the most difficult jobs and they deserve so much more respect and appreciation than they received. I can tell they just wanted to give everyone the best all-around experience possible, regardless if they were being metaphorically slapped across the face.
Since I couldn’t say what I wanted to say to that woman, I decided i wanted to leave a lengthy review to commend this staff and the community they’ve built. I will absolutely be returning.
I been to Karmic Grind many times and I really like the cute location. The service is friendly. I always ordered Iced Latte or Cappuccino and they both were great! I suggest the croissants. I will be back soon!
I popped into Karmic Grind Coffee in Locust Valley after my Pilates class, and I’m so glad I did! I tried the “Founder”—a delicious mix of espresso, oat milk, cinnamon, and maple syrup—absolutely perfect. Parking was convenient, and the shop is full of cute goodies, from planners and pens to candles and blue light glasses. They even have a fridge stocked with great snacks, including my favorite Nounós coconut mango yogurt. The cherry on top? They have a cozy little lending library—who doesn’t love a spot where you can grab a coffee *and* a good book? I’ll definitely be back!
Our group cycles through here a few times monthly. It’s a good place to refuel and use the washroom facilities.
Nice & comfortable indoor space with air conditioning. Service is friendly & efficient.
I think it was a bit busy when we got here and that’s likely why our sandwich was burnt 🥲. My buddy still ate it after picking off the burnt ends.
Good place to grab a coffee and watch the train pass by 👍
