I went there last night and had thanksgiving dinner.
Total tab with tip:
$165.00 for 1 person
Ambiance:
very good and not too noisy.
Food:
($85) so-so, temperature of everything was not perfect, in fact it was not hot and also not cold. I expected the rib eye steak to be sizzling and it was not.
($22) The chocolate cake dessert was hard, not soft and moist, and expensive. I did not even finish it.
($6) Coffee, not hot, not fresh. I asked for cream and i got 1%
Service:
Attentive and reasonable
Yes i should have asked for real milk instead of the watered down sort of cream that i got.
One thing i noticed is waiters during clean up of a table kept dropping things on the floor. It seemed constant throughout the evening.
Recommendation:
Nope, too expensive and not worth it.
It was a bland experience.
Im still trying to decide whether i should say i felt ripped off, or not. It is very close though coz i recalled the outback steakhouse coffee and chocolate cake was 50% much better and costs a lot less.
The place seemed nice, but the bartender—Greg—needs to learn to ask basic questions. When I started a tab, I specifically said that mine is separate (I was with a group of people). When I asked to closed out, he put someone else's drink on my tab because he *assumed* we were together. Easy enough fix to remove it, but what if this person closed out and left before me—would I then be stuck paying for their drink?! Then, even after he removed the other drink, I realized the bill was higher than it should have been. I had asked for a pinot noir, having only seen one listed on the menu. Apparently, there was another list of wine on a different page (why they separated the list of red wine is beyond me, I digress). So he, again, *assumed* I wanted the more expensive glass. When I brought this up, he was defensive and rude. I shouldn't have had to pay more for his poor bartending skills. And he in no way attempted to ameliorate the situation in any way. I'm left extremely annoyed by this experience.
While visiting the area, I was recommended this charming bar inside the beautiful Garden City Hotel and what a treat it was! The super-friendly bartender Kevin made the evening extra fun, and a few staff even stopped by to say hello. I indulged in a delicious custom mezcal cocktail, paired with fresh oysters and refreshing champagne. I even missed my train back to Manhattan, but I didn’t mind one bit, I just wanted to savor everything this place had to offer. The freshly baked bread with premium olive oil was simply divine. A lovely spot in the picturesque town of Garden City. Highly recommended!
We had a delightful dining experience, it was beautiful. We had an amazing server, her name is Venus, she was very kind, sweet and pleasant, her personality is wonderful. I would give this place 10 stars but it only allows us to only give 5, Highly recommended
King Bar at Garden City Hotel - A Delightful Dining Experience
My friend and I recently had a lovely dinner at King Bar, a charming spot located inside the Garden City Hotel. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening.
We started with the octopus, which was perfectly cooked—tender and flavorful. However, the highlight of the night was the risotto. Creamy, rich, and full of flavor, it quickly became my favorite dish. Both were absolute standouts and highly recommended.
Overall, the service was attentive, and the meal was excellent. We will definitely be back soon!
