You don't have to be Jewish to love the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC! When a brain injury changed life, as I knew it; I found comfort, acceptance and inspiration at this JCC in Cedarhurst, NY. After prolonged illness, rehab, and now career-less, I searched for a place where I could: relax-, be accepted-, ( by others if not by myself), learn ,- be helpful,- commiserate with those in the same boat as myself and just get out of the house. I found that place, almost two decades ago when the JCC started a group for Survivors Of Traumatic Brain Injury. ( and those with acqired brain injury, as well. ) Since I joined the group, under the caring leadership of Lisa Barnett, it has expanded and become an important part of the lives of a diverse group of individuals who share a common problem- bain injury. I cant say enough about the welcoming sense of community I have experienced at the JCC. Thank you for making me feel at home for almost the past two decades!
