The food is inconsistent at best. I will continue to eat here as it's the only place you can get anything resembling a hot meal in town for around $10 besides dunkin donuts. The lunch special price is comparable to the price of a single drink at the nearby establishments. But I can't honestly recommend it. The restaurant itself is also not inviting, with random junk for sale, run down interior, and bad smell. I have never seen anyone eat inside there, I would stickly take out or eat on a bench outside
I took a day trip to Cold Spring via the Seastreak ferry. The restaurant caught my eye initially because of the clothing and gift items that were displayed outside. I found a beautiful reversible Shanghai Tang embroidered jacket, and took it inside to purchase. Inside the restaurant were more gifts and clothing for sale. The owner was very pleasant. The restaurant smelled great, so I decided to order food. I had the spicy chicken, pork and beef with white rice. It had the right amount of spice, and the portion was large enough that I had leftovers. If you find yourself in Cold Spring, I highly recommend a visit to New Ming Moon. You may just find a hidden treasure.
I normally write my reviews on yelp but figured as I was having difficulty deciding whether to pop by based on the reviews that I would leave my experience. Popped up to Cold Spring for the weekend from NYC after a long day in Beacon I returned and was famished. Nothing hits like a Chinese takeout at the end of the day. I chose the sesame chicken combo plate. Glad I did. The egg roll was standard issue bonus points for being straight out of the fryer. The fried rice was also solid. The sesame chicken is spicy (which I knew from reading the menu but for some I could see that being a surprise. Not spicy like a ghost pepper spicy but for those who are sensitive to even the slightest tingle of the tongue). Indeed very tasty. I called the order in and the person who answered said will be complete in ten minutes. Wow so quick. I popped right by and he was finishing up. Inside is a selection of Knick knack items for sale which was a nice surprise. It may not be a place for an upscale date night but the taste of the food for takeout hits. Cashier/cook/and I assume owner was a nice guy as well. Can tell he is working hard and still manages a smile. Bonus points.
TLDR: if you are craving your Chinese takeout go to order. I don’t think you will be disappointed!
I recently dined at New Ming Moon Chinese restaurant in Cold Spring. The food was decent, with the only drawback being it was a bit on the salty side. Other than that, it was an okay dining experience. However, what left a less than stellar impression was the unfriendliness of the owners. In a restaurant, a warm and welcoming atmosphere can greatly enhance the overall experience, and unfortunately, that was lacking here. While the food was passable, the lack of hospitality from the owners left room for improvement.
