From beginning to end my experience with NYBG has been fantastic. I had come from a different practice that wasted about year of my life. Right away Dr.Godshall took me seriously and mapped out a plan for me. It’s almost two years later and I cannot be more thrilled with my results! I’m so grateful for the staff and Dr. for all work they put into making this a smooth and dignified experience.
Thank you NYBG!!!
Surgery went great. They provide you with tons of info to help guide you through the process. They deal with insurance and work swiftly to get you scheduled. After surgery, however, is a different story. It takes forever to get anyone on the phone— 20 minute minimum wait. Emails go unanswered. Appointments are difficult to schedule, and cancellations are common. If you have an emergency or post-surgery complications, on-call doctors are NEVER available. Only real option outside of office hours is urgent care or ER. Surgery went great, just be prepared to handle post-op recovery on your own.
Super disappointed! Firstly, the seating in the office is low to the ground without any arms on the seats, so nothing to support getting up (bad knee here). When I mentioned it to the staff, they stared at me like deer in headlights. I do remember being young myself and not understanding people with mobility issues, but this is an office for Bariatric patients so I know they should absolutely be aware.
Dr. Godshall was very nice, although she did tend to talk over me instead of listening. Again. I let it slide because I heard nothing but good things about the office. It was the 3rd week in June and I was promised that they’d have my prescription within weeks after I followed up with the doctors she wanted me to see (blood, sleep apnea test, pulmonologist, and nutritionist).
After jumping through all their hoops I’m still without meds, again I was promised I’d have my prescription. I get a call last week asking me to make an appointment to see the doctor again before I even had my first prescription. Sounds like I’m getting pinged around their office to pad the billing of their various doctors and still no prescription.
It’s August 3rd today. It’s been 6 weeks since I was there and all I have to show for it is 4 co-pays to their doctors and no medication. Disappointing and completely frustrated. I could have had this in hand if I went anywhere else. My wedding is in 2 months and they made me miss more than a month of getting help.
I do not recommend this practice.
Dr. Godshall is a wonderful doctor. She was thorough with her assessment during my procedure and during my follow-up she answered all my questions and concerns.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Sommer and the entire team at New York Bariatric Group.
From the very first consultation to now, just a few days post-op, the experience has been smooth, supportive, and incredibly professional. Dr. Sommer is not only knowledgeable and skilled but also kind, patient, and truly invested in his patients’ success. He answered all my questions, eased my nerves, and made me feel fully confident in my decision.
A special shoutout to Jackie Aldas, Lead Patient Care Concierge, who was amazing throughout the whole process. She kept everything organized, answered my questions quickly, and made sure I always felt supported.
The entire NYBG team, from the coordinators to the nurses and nutritionists, has been outstanding. I’m only 4 days post-op and already feeling amazing. I’m so grateful to have had Dr. Sommer and this team on my side. Highly recommend to anyone considering weight loss surgery.
