Finding a good assisted living home is incredibly hard. Many of these places promise you the world, but it’s all a show to get your money. When you have a parent with memory issues who needs assistance, patience, and everyday loving care, you have to be careful where they go. We found this place after a bad experience at one of the big local chains. Olsen’s is a family owned business, they don’t have a ton of residents, and they have a very loving and attentive staff. My Dad was treated like family and I was able to rest easy knowing he was in the best hands. Sometimes he would switch his language from English to Spanish, and it was nice that most of the staff could understand (fully or mostly) which made him feel right at home. Some of them even called him “abuelo” (grandpa) which just warms my heart. His health declined and unfortunately he is no longer with us, but I am eternally grateful that his last couple of years were filled with the love and respect he deserved. ❤️
I picked this place for my mom because it feels and looks like a home and not a hospital. My mom gets much better care there than I can give at home.
I do not know where to start. After looking for so many places in our area for my mother in law, we found this beautiful home in the middle of Nesconset. From the initial phone conversation, first visit we were stunned on what a comfortable, family envrionment this was just absolutley perfect. We decided to try it out and at no point were disappointed in any way. The admission process explained in great detail and very simple took no time at all. The management of medication and overall quality of life is outstanding. The staff, beyond wonderful, the most caring people I had ever had the pleasure to meet. They are so attentive and dedicated to their craft, you can go to sleep at night knowing your loved one is cared for and safe. Calling the staff to change the channel on the TV or just checking in, they are just unbelivable. Just little things like when she had to go to rehab, they stop by and see her and make sure she is cared for. If you are looking for the next step for your loved one to be cared for and treated with respect and dignity and with a smile, this is the place.
My father was a resident until he unfortunately passed away recently. He had a long and full life of 84 years and spent his last year being very well cared for at Olsen’s Rest Home. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. If you are considering a residence to take care of your elderly parents or a loved one then I highly recommend considering Olsen’s. It has been family owned and operated since the 1950’s and is currently run by George Olsen and his daughter Ellen. My father loved living there after a bad experience at one of the larger elder care facilities located locally. There are only twenty something residents so your loved one will get plenty of attention. All of the girls who work there are very nice and genuinely caring. I would visit him 3 times a week and every time I showed up he always looked great with his hair combed, shaved and dressed in a new outfit. Olsen’s is located in Nesconset on a beautiful wooded lot and is impeccably clean. It is a throwback to a generation gone by with a real homey feel. I always felt great at the end of our visit knowing when I left that he was in good hands and being very well cared for. In addition to their impeccable care they are also reasonably priced. If you are in need of adult care for a loved one then look no further than Olsen’s.
My mother just dropped my grandmother off here and she says my grandmother is just “lit up”. My mom is in tears with how happy she is to make this hard choice. Thank Gd such a place exists for elderly care, such a unique place. I’m surprised Olsen’s doesn't have more great reviews.
