A fantastic park for a hike. Many different trials offer both distance and terrain for all ages and levels. Both through the woods and in the warm sunlight, varying trails offer glimpses of beautiful plants and flowers, as well as sweeping vistas and mountains. Generous signage offers details of the plants and views. It’s well maintained and has easy access to the clearly labeled trail heads.
Good signage from the road. Ample parking in designated lot. It was a hot October day (80s) that felt more like summer. Muddy trails with fallen smashed apples, wear good shoes and watch your step. Bugs, wear your bug spray. We took the Geology Trail (yellow) to the summit. Pretty steep climb and mostly in the unforgiving sun. The paths are well maintained and mowed but the flares are sometimes hidden by overgrowth. A couple of nice overlook spots but the summit itself was anticlimactic. Couldn’t really see the view over the trees. We took the Five Habitats Trail (green) back and it was much more pleasant as it was forested and shady. I can’t see driving the hour to come back here, but if it was closer, I would probably come here for a picnic.
I really want to give this place five stars. It has the choice of 4 main paths that take you through various areas of the park and meet at the top of the hill, and while I find them to be pretty easy for most, there is also a shorter gravel loop path available, so there really is an option for just about anyone. The entire property is dotted with apple trees, benches, and picnic tables so you can easily find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy nature, and there's plenty of wildlife to see. The entire park is also very well maintained with mowed, well marked paths. My only reason for not giving this place a five-star review is that the ticks are absolutely horrendous. To their credit, they do warn you very blatantly that ticks are present, but I've never had such an experience as I did here. If you go, definitely make sure you prepare yourself with tick repellent and proper clothing. Check yourself multiple times and make sure you shower as soon as you get home. Otherwise the place is very lovely, and certainly worth a visit.
Summit is an easy hike with kids. Lots of wild flowers, birds, bugs, benches, and the occasional rabbit. Fun family spot. There are actually peach and apple trees people pick as well. Great views.
Great nature trails for a quick workout. The trails go up a hill which will get your heart beating and when you reach the top you are rewarded with a gorgeous view. They have some trails that are more challenging than others, so you can choose your level and you are allowed to bring your pup. The trails are very clear and kept up, so there is no chance you will get lost. You will see soaring birds, mountains, interesting rocks and beautiful trees. I love Peach Hill Park!
