We cannot express enough how wonderful SCBNS is and how grateful we are for the loving and caring teachers and staff. Our child attended the 3's program and transitioned so smoothly after being home for three years, thanks entirely to the dedication of the school staff in enriching children's lives. Each day, our child came home happy and excited. The school also offered after-school enrichment programs throughout the year, which our child loved and helped her adjust to a longer day.
As first-time parents sending our child to school, we were nervous. The moment we walked into the school and were warmly greeted by the director, we knew we had made the right decision. Every morning, the director welcomed parents and children at the front door, while teachers awaited the children at the classroom door. We always felt our child was safe and that the teachers and director genuinely cared about the children's well-being.
We highly recommend this school!
My child attended SCBNS for about 1 year. She was in the 2s program. We were surprised how well she transitioned from being at home to her first school experience. I think couple of things contributed to that smooth transition. Her teachers were very understanding, very warm, provided the children with many creative lessons, especially in the arts. She was able to sing most of the songs they taught at school to us at home. Another aspect I loved about the school was that the environment felt safe. There was always a greeter at the door in the morning and during pick up time. In the fall, the school had a firetruck day for the kids to see up close and personal. In the spring time, they had a whole live butterfly unit to teach kids about caterpillar transformation, followed up a wonderful art show which was very neat. My child was in the process of potty training right before school started. We weren't really sure how it was going to work with her being in school but the teachers worked with us without any hesitation. For us, this was the perfect place for my kid's first school experience.
SCBNS has been a wonderful place not just for my 2y/o son, but for me as a parent. The teachers are warm and nurturing, calm and kind. My little one wasn’t the only one nervous to go….made me so comfortable that each week the teacher sent pictures of the kids in their environment - so fun to see their personalities! There’s a monthly newsletter that keeps you up to date on what is being taught , which is fun because you can work on it at home with books and songs. It’s amazing to see your little person learning things like coughing into his “wing”, humming songs we all grew up like Twinkle Twinkle and iItsy Bitsy etc. My son started in a play group before he could walk….he now walks up the stairs and runs into the classroom! We are so thrilled with SCBNS - we are doing summer camp too! If the school was open all 12 months - we would be there!! We can’t say enough great things about everything and everyone at SCBNS!!!
My daughter attended the Scarsdale Community Baptist Nursery School for almost two full school years as well as two summers. The teachers are very kind and nurturing. I always felt as though they cared for my daughter the same as they cared for their own children. The classes completed wonderful craft projects and often made tasty treats to eat as part of their learning. My daughter has a peanut allergy and the teachers and director were very careful about avoiding foods that could trigger any of the children’s allergies. The curriculum was fun, exciting and effective, and my daughter looked forward to attending school every day. I can’t say enough good things about the school.
I can't say enough good things about this school. My 22 month old son gets excited to go to school every morning and runs into his classroom. His teachers are extremely warm, friendly and encouraging. They are great with communicating with parents and always keep us informed on what they are teaching in the classroom. They are always organizing great events for the kids and educational visits from the local fire department, nature center and other great programs. My son has excelled since starting their 2's program and we are thrilled.
