Renter in the Aldyn for nearly 5 years now. Great building in an incredible location on the Upper West Side. Not a bad word to say about the building staff - everyone is very friendly and helpful. Same goes for the leasing office.
As most have mentioned, one would be hard tasked to find a better gym within another building on the Upper West Side. The gym has just about every amenity a person could ask for.
I cannot imagine calling anywhere else home.
I have lived around 66/Columbus for the last 20 years, my wife has lived here her whole live, so we have a pretty good frame of reference as to what to expect in the Lincoln Square/Columbus Circle area of the UWS.
Our family moved in to The Aldyn almost two months ago, and no, nothing is perfect, but the staff here is VERY friendly, my kids and I spend a lot of time in the lobby chopping it up with the fellas down there. It has been nice getting to know the team here. The Aldyn is a large building, so there are some limitations on what the staff can do. I think you have to be realistic about that, and if you are, you'll be very happy.
Also worthy of note, there are A LOT of parking garages within a couple of blocks of here, so if you have a car you really can't get more convenient that this - you can get on the Henry Hudson in 3 minutes. On getaway day that saves a lot of stress!
The gym is extraordinary - my son has become a gym rat since we moved in, literally going every day which is amazing.
There were several issues with the apartment when we moved in and the maintenance team attacked all of the problems and fixed them. They also helped me get chandeliers installed and a few other additional items. What was unusual about this was that Danny & Ramo tried to refuse tips when I offered them! They were so helpful and sweet, the fact that they did not have their hand out was striking - I've never seen that before.
The view of the Hudson River is so beautiful every morning, it's a real luxury - especially the ice flowing on the river this winter - now that was picturesque and fun. Yes, it is really windy on Riverside, but that has nothing to do with the building, that's just geography. Wear a hat and a scarf in the winter and you'll be fine.
I noticed some reviews referencing noise from adjacent apartments and I have not experienced any of that at all. One of our neighbors has a child under 4 and the other has 3 dogs, we have never heard any of them. I don't mean it's pretty quiet, I've never heard a thing. Same for upstairs - no bleed through sound at all. So, it appears the structure of the building is sound.
The bathtubs are INSANE! I am over 6' tall and there aren't many bathtubs that I can really sink into - I have had several bath salt soaks following a workout since moving in... it's been spectacular.
The proximity to Riverside Park is special. Great place for a family. The maintenance areas are well attended and clean.
Feels like home, like a community and isn't that what we all want? This was the right choice for us.
