My Mom has been in their care going on two years, the care team are hard working, dedicated staff and take good care of her. The entertainment, housekeeping, laundry and food services staff are also kind, hard working people. This industry as a whole has it's many challenges, especially as a 501c. Some of the other reviews here don't speak to our experience but perhaps they haven't had the unfortunate experience to observe other elder care facilities in Rockland. All I see when visiting are the staff at Tolstoy working hard to provide the best possible care to its residents.

The staff at Tolstoy is one of the most unique, extraordinary and caring group of people I've ever come across in a Nursing Home Rehab. My mom was cared for with dignity and compassion which helped her recover so wonderfully during her stay. I've been a health care provider 25 years and have seen quite the opposite in many facilities. I'm so grateful for each team's hard work and dedication to our elder population. This includes the laundry team, house keeping, Intake dept, everyone in the kitchen, the aides who work so hard, nursing staff, physical and occupational therapy and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention. Thank you all!

My Mom had a bad fall at home. After two weeks in the hospital, she went to Tolstoy for rehabilitation and care. She was in Tolstoy for a period of two weeks. When my mother arrived at Tolstoy, she was not able walk. Within a few days, she was back on her feet and getting around in a walker (pretty much as she did before her fall at home).
From the moment she arrived, the staff was caring and made sure she had everything she needed. The aid, nurse, physical and occupational therapy staff as well as the administrative staff was second to none. In addition, management was very engaged and made sure we were happy with the service my Mom was getting.

    Great job Tolstoy!
