We were matched with a student and family who are very friendly, polite and appreciative of our contribution to the growth and development of this young teenager. As a result, a very nice feeling surrounds our relationship, and makes it our pleasure to welcome him back for his third year. Overall, it has been a meaningful and rewarding experience.
This isn’t my first rodeo. I have been hosting international high school students for over 10 years. This is my first year hosting for APEX. They are by far the best agency I ever worked with. They are a five star company. They are always available to help from the beginning process to when the student arrives, and during their stay.
Judy Lee is my home coordinator she is always available and gets right back to me if I have any questions.
I have 2 boys from China. They are both freshmen in HS. They are good students, very respectful and made a lot of friends in school. They enjoy going on hikes, bike rides and to the mall.they love American food and teaching us how to make Chinese food. They love to swim and play ping pong.
I have 2 sons of my own and they are now grown and moved out. They come for dinner and family gatherings and the international students really enjoy being with them.
I come from a large family I have 10 brothers and sisters and love a house full. I really enjoy having them here and showing them how American families live and they get to share with us there culture
I was a host sister to several students who attended school in the US via AIEP's program. My first "sister" experience was wonderful! We enjoyed learning about her home country and traditions, even celebrating Chinese New Year with a big party in our home. We went to Boston together to look at colleges and sight-see and helped her shop for prom dresses.
AIEP also offered fun outings for the students and hosted events for the students and their host families. We enjoyed meeting other host families and participating.
My "sister" has since graduated, but we formed such a bond that we visited her at her college, attended her college graduation, and even made a point to see her when we were on vacation in Canada where she was attending graduate school.
We still text regularly and look forward to visiting her soon.
AIEP offered us a unique opportunity - to open our home to an international student. We are forever grateful for the "sister" we gained through this experience.
I have been a host parent with AIEP for 2 years. Unfortunately I’ve been hosting during the pandemic, so there were many challenges along the way. But the rewards of seeing these students mature and graduate is well worth it. I have found being a host parent a rewarding and gratifying experience. The two boys I have hosted each came with strengths and quirks. I have seen my abilities to manage and support each individually as a sense of pride. It has been good working with the all the student coordinators from AIEP as they helped me understand how this experience is impacting the students. I know if I need anything from them, they are only a phone call away. I recommend this to anyone who wants to give a positive opportunity to a student from another country to learn and share customs, culture, traditions and of course good food.
We decided to apply for this program, and we got to host 2 exchange students, twins from China.
It is a great way to interchange cultures, show the students things that they haven't done at home, meet new friends, family members, it is definitely a rewarding experience.
In exchange of hosting, your family gets a monthly stipend, that helps with the household expenses.
Overall we are happy with AIEP, and would recommend the program to any families that haven't decided to apply for it yet.
