Bernies Tire & Auto

We’ve been going there for about 3yrs and always love the service. Today was next level though. My wife brought the car in to check what we thought was a flat. Turns out it wasn’t. They did a full check, refilled the tires and then refused to charge her anything. We plan on going to them for years to come.

Exceptional People!
I arrived at a business in Springfield NJ 45 miles from home and my 2018 Raptor was severely overheating, without any dash warning lights to that point. Another customer there suggested I call Bernie's Tire and Auto just 3 miles away, and drop his name as he is a loyal longtime customer. So I called the shop and was told I could bring it over. Had to stop one time on my way there to let the truck cool down again. Three guys there immediately starting looking it over, and after it cooled down they filled the system with water and pressure-tested. It was obvious that the water pump was leaking badly but the cooling system may have been leaking from elsewhere as well. Since I have an extended warranty through Ford I wanted Ford to do any work for which I've paid in advance. The crew at Bernie's topped off the oil and gave me a gallon jug of water thinking I should have been able to get the truck home if I so chose, but I didn't want to risk further damage so Bernie, the shop owner, suggested I drive another 2 miles to the nearby Ford dealer.

Three or 4 guys and then Bernie had likely spent a good half hour evaluating the truck's issues, yet he would not accept any money for time and labor and would only allow me to pay him for the oil top-off. Furthermore, he said that if I got the situation at the Ford dealer squared away before he closed and headed home he'd give me a ride home - 45 miles - which was in his general direction but likely at least 25 miles out of his way. THAT is Service well above and beyond anything reasonably expected. Should I need any work done on vehicles other than my under-warranty truck, you can bet I'll check into Bernie's.

I had a great experience working with Bernie and his son Chris . They were both very honest and fair . I got a great deal on a 4Runner that they sold on consignment for a customer and serviced for the past 10 years . It was in great condition . I’m really happy with the purchase . I’d absolutely trust them to work on my car or buy another vehicle from them . Thanks a lot!!

My son had car trouble late one night, 2 hours from home. Fortunately, we have friends in Maplewood who took him in, and they recommended Bernie's. Bernie's quickly diagnosed the problem and got him back on the road. I'm very appreciative for his quick, professional service!

Every time I’ve taken my car there, they’ve been quick to identify the root cause of the issue and fix it properly. One thing that really stands out is how fair their pricing is. On one occasion, they replaced a part in my car, and when they discovered it was cheaper than expected, they actually credited me the difference. That kind of honesty and transparency is rare and deeply appreciated.
