I can not recommend Dr Lindsay Anderson and PCIT enough. Day 1 I felt powerless and sad about my sons behavior and my parenting in general (despite trying everything I could think of). His behavior had negatively effected our family and relationships we had. We are now on session 12 and I literally just hugged Dr. Anderson crying and telling her she gave my family back. We aren’t even done with the training yet. I feel in control and hopeful. People are commenting on his positive change in behavior and calmer demeanor. I will always have a spirited child and I love him so much and don’t want to change his essence so I’m glad the program really focuses on the positive aspects of the child and building your relationship with them. The best part of this program is that it’s all step by step so it’s manageable. Often times you see a behaviorist or read strategies and you feel tired and defeated the first day... and they promise it will get easier but really you just get worn down. Not so with PCIT. I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it might help someone else who is struggling. There’s hope.
Dr. Anderson at the Caring Cove is an incredible child psychologist who takes the time to understand the needs of your child and provide the best treatment. I finally felt like we were getting the right treatment. I am so happy that she moved her office to the area and I found her. I hope this review helps other parents.
