Complete Care at Barn Hill

The Nurses are Kind, Compassionate & Empathetic especially Nurse Rebecca she went above & beyond, The Staff in Physical Therapy was Friendly & would Explain in a Way I could understand, the Food is different for each Person if they dont like what is offered, You can order something else, I had no Problem Getting my boyfriend a Sandwich, Specially when he forgets to check off what he want to eat that day & got something he didnt like,

My mom has been in Barnhill a few different times over the past few years recovering from different illnesses. She has always been treated with respect and she has had wonderful rehabilitation there. She tells me how nice and respectful the staff have been. No complaints from her. They always answer questions and keep me informed of her progress. My dad was also there for rehabilitation for a short time before he passed in 2016. We had the same experience, friendly, helpful and caring staff.

First and foremost, the Direct Care staff to Patient ratio is not in compliance with New Jersey state regulations. Regulations
Require one Direct Care staff member, whether nurse or aide, to every 8 patients during the day, 1:10 during the evening, and 1:14 at night. This is for DIRECT CARE, not the number of those who hold nursing licenses but do not provide Direct Care, such as administrators. Safety of the patient should be PARAMOUNT!
Secondly, the food is horrible.
Thirdly, the building is extremely outdated.
Fourth, there is at least one, maybe more, nurses that have no clue what they are doing and are, in my opinion, dangerous!
Last, but certainly not least, God forbid of a true emergency when there is only one aide on duty covering 30 patients at night. Call Bells have been known to ring for over 45 minutes.
On a positive note, nurse Betty and aide Tai, are wonderful and caring.
