Dr. Christopher Caruso

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with my recent visit to this orthopedic physician, Dr Caruso.The appointment was extremely brief—approximately five minutes—and felt rushed to the point that I did not have adequate time to ask questions or fully understand my diagnosis and treatment plan. Additionally No physical examination or hands-on assessment was conducted to evaluate my pain or identify its underlying cause. Before I could gather my thoughts or seek clarification, the physician had already left the room to see another patient.

Following the visit, I waited approximately 7 minutes in order to ask a basic but important question regarding the medication that had been prescribed. When the physician encountered me in the hallway, his initial response was to ask the front desk staff, “What’s wrong?” rather than addressing me directly. When I asked what medication had been prescribed, I was told only that it was “anti-inflammatories,” with no further explanation. I later learned the specific medication only when picking it up at the pharmacy. This information should have been clearly communicated during the visit or when I asked.

Additionally, when I requested clarification regarding my diagnosis—specifically the nature of the pinched nerve and what structures were affected—I received vague and dismissive responses, such as “it’s just pinched,” without any meaningful explanation, discussion of expectations, or treatment rationale. I also informed the physician that I have a medical background, yet this did not result in clearer communication.

Overall, the interaction felt impersonal and dismissive, lacking empathy, patient education, and professional engagement. The communication style conveyed a focus on efficiency rather than attentiveness and compassion. As a patient, I felt unheard and disrespected.

Patients should be given sufficient time, clear explanations, and basic courtesy during medical visits. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those standards.

Always available if you’re in pain. Smart and has a bedside manner.
