My son’s first introduction to Gladiator Gym was the few summers he volunteered for Boxing Against Parkinson’s. Coach Shawn Darling runs a top-notch, invaluable program to aid people battling against Parkinson’s disease with their physical and cognitive abilities, as well as their overall wellness. In all of his classes, Coach focuses on wellness of the whole person: mentally, physically & spiritually. After assisting in Boxing Against Parkinson’s, my son joined the teen boxing class, which is highly enjoyable and greatly improved his self-confidence, strength, and coordination. He now attends the adult class, which is an excellent progression from the teen class and further exemplifies how there is a place for everyone at Gladiator Gym. He comes home talking about exercise, nutrition, and many other motivating topics. I wholeheartedly recommend trying out Gladiator Gym, owned by Shawn Darling whose broad education, life experience, and passion are difficult to match but very easy to benefit from and perhaps give back. In many of the preceding reviews, you can read about Coach’s extensive accomplishments, including being a Police Academy instructor; training underprivileged children as well as Olympic, professional, and elite amateur champion boxers; and being inducted into the NJ Boxing Hall Of Fame.

Gladiator Boxing with Coach Shawn Darling is hands down one of the best gyms around. He is positive, motivating and a true leader that is so passionate about coaching others. His Parkinson's classes have helped so many people that struggle with motor control, loss of strength, cognitive abilities and coordination. He researches to learn and be the very best so that he can truly impact the lives of so many people. Not only does he train award winning boxers and athletes, he gives so much of his time to those that battle Parkinson's Disease. He is truly a gift to our community and you feel like family when you enter the gym.

Coping with any disease is stressful, however if there were more facilities like Gladiator life would be much easier to deal with. I laughed initially when my neurologist suggested I join Gladiator presuming it to be simply another boring gym workout. I've been a member now for four years and view the time spent there vastly different from my original thoughts. Coach Shawn applies his Boxing training skills and incorporates them into workouts accommodating the needs of individuals afflicted with Parkinson's. Aside from his boxing expertise his ability to include trivia, current events and other topics in his classes demonstrates his overall professionalism as well as his concern for the well being of his clients. Having observed some of his normal Boxing training sessions I would certainly have no regrets in recommending Gladiator as a place to gain both physical and mental strength. ( Just don't drop the powder from the donuts
    all over the place)

Coach Shawn Darling runs classes for and trains elite amateur Champions and professional Boxers, people who want to get fit and lose weight, children, teens and people with Parkinson’s Disease. I was a lifelong martial artist and diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. When I started at Gladiator, I was just coming off of three months of physical therapy and still using a cane for balance. Now, fifteen months later, I rarely use the cane, I have lost 65 pounds and I am fit enough to train in both the Parkinson’s classes and in the evening regular adult boxing classes which are extremely challenging. I have also become a certified boxing coach. I owe that all to Coach Shawn’s support, motivation, encouragement and guidance. He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of boxing, physical fitness and nutrition. I highly and enthusiastically recommend Gladiator Gym and Coach Shawn!
