We visited on a rainy Sunday. Not a soul around. Simply one of the most beautiful places to be on a day like that. The grounds are manicured and maintained in a way that speak to the time this plantation was established in the late 1600's, by the Honorable John Skene, Free Mason. Coming from Scotland, he settled here in the colonies, finding this place in "West New Jersey" to his liking. After his death, a Mr. Henry Burr built the beginning of this wonderful home on the property in 1725, with the rest being built in 1732. Aside from a few modern amenities like electricity, this manse likely looks as it did in Mr. Burr's day. What a joy and pleasure to be able to enjoy time here now. Breathtaking.

Historic Peachfield holds wonderful memories of our past. The Colonial Dames who are responsible for maintaining the heritage of the land do an outstanding job of encouraging American History. You will be moved and inspired by the history of the property.
