Howell Living History Farm

This is a working historical farm-museum, a great place to visit, especially with kids! Free.
Explore the grounds, see the interiors of the old farmer's house, visit farm animals (cow, horses, pigs, sheep, chicken), have a simple meal at the little cafe.
Talk to the wonderful and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. They grow a lot of produce (mostly using techniques from 1890 – 1910) and donate it to organizations in need.
Free seasonal activities on Saturdays, like making apple cider, harvesting corn, ice-cream making with local peaches and milk etc. Interesting seasonal displays in the main barn, like Quilt Show.
Very close to the Baldpate mountain preserve, so go for a 1-2 hours hike later.

I went here as chaperone with kids on a field trip organized by school.
Not very clear on how much school paid for them. Kids had paid 16$ per person which included transportation from school.
This is definitely good option to take group of kids and even adults. I could relate with my grandparents farms and houses in India. So farms and farm houses smell and feel the same wherever you are.
Kids learned so many things. They could harvest 🌽 from the plants in garden. Overall nice experience.
They need to arrange for some trash cans when kids arrive on field trips. Carrying back trash all the way from picnic area till the bus was too hard.

The farm is free, parking is easy. Every single person I’ve met is so welcoming! You can try scrapple, cornbread and popcorn at the Farmhouse. You can also purchase cake slices, quiche, chowder and bean salad at the entrance. Everything is local and made with love. The animals are so cute and well fed too!

Excellent place for education and a chance to step back into the past..the volunteers are kind and informative. We love the animals and there are always fun activities. The food in the cafe today was delicious. Kiddos to whoever baked the cranberry/ apple cookie crumble. It was amazing. Happy holiday wishes to you all.

What a great couple of hours to spend with my Granddaughter. If your looking for something to do don’t hesitate to drive to Howell Living History Farm. What a wonderful couple of hours spending on the farm walking around and visiting with the sheep, pigs, horses and chickens. A beautiful non stressful couple of hours with nature and those you love. The employees are amazing and the little gift shop small but great farm items to buy like their honey. There is no charge but I definitely leave a donation every time I go. We went to the 4H fair this year and it was so much fun. Thank you for so many memorable days to remember.
