Only place I get my sourdough and other goods from! Truly so delicious. I don’t go a week without stopping by
Lechem Bakery is mamash a dream come true for anyone who takes their bread seriously. If you’re in Toms River / Lakewood area and you want real bakery-quality sourdough, challah, and desserts that feel fresh and homemade (but on a professional level), this place is a must.
First of all, you walk in and it smells like Gan Eden for carb-lovers. The displays are beautiful, everything looks fresh, and you immediately start doing cheshbonos like, “Okay, I’ll just get one loaf…” and then two minutes later you’re holding a bag that could supply a small Shabbos kiddush. 😄
Their sourdough is a big deal here — crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, with that perfect tang. And I have to mention: the jalapeño sourdough is mamash next level. It’s the kind of loaf you buy “to try,” and then you realize you’re slicing it all night and suddenly there’s nothing left for the morning. The breads have that real artisan feel, not factory bread pretending to be fancy.
I also love the setup — it’s self-serve, so you can grab a paper bag and pick what you want at your own pace. It’s convenient and fast, and also slightly dangerous because nobody is there to stop you when you start adding “just one more” item. (A mashgiach for the wallet would be helpful, but okay.)
Everything is packaged nicely, the place is clean and organized, and the whole experience feels smooth. It’s perfect for Shabbos prep, bringing something to a host, or just upgrading your regular weekday breakfast from “meh” to “wow.”
Bottom line: Lechem Bakery is fresh, delicious, and super heimish in the best way. Highly recommended — just don’t come in hungry unless you’re prepared to walk out with more than you planned. Baruch Hashem for places like this!
I recently moved to the area and stumbled into Lechem Bakery looking for the Starbucks. Wow. Fantastic authentic sourdough and challah. I bought a small loaf of each one since we're only 2 people at home. Nice selection of spreads and even super thin smoked salmon (I think it's actually Gravlox) trays. The store is self-service; grab a paper bag and fill it with whatever fresh loaves you want, all neatly displayed on baking racks. SI ove that there's a variety of sizes available. The bread is pricey and there were no listed prices that I was able to find so I was surprised when my bill was $30 for 2 loaves and the salmon, but the quality is A++ so I'm happy to pay for the these truly artisan breads which you just won't find anywhere else nearby.
Oh my first time going into the store! Pleasant Staff worker helped me out. Saw nice looking fresh bread & picked an Everything Sourdough loaf! It was still too warm to have sliced at the store so when I got home I immediately dug in & ate the Heel with Butter! Soft, warm & the smell was intoxicating! Will be back for sure! Awesome!
Beautiful crusty professional sourdough bread with a soft and stretchy texture inside! Freshly made on premises, they’ve also got a unique line of tasty desserts🧁 🍰Stop by for a unique experience! 🥖
