I have to say, the staff at this location is AMAZING!!! A bus full of elderly travelers were politely greeted (each and every one) as they walked in. You can tell by their reaction, they felt welcomed. As I made my coffee, I noticed the line to the women’s room became abnormally long. As a nurse, I understand that traveling long distances for elderly people, especially elderly women, can turn into a medical emergency if not allowed to relieve themselves in a timely manner. Right after, I noticed one particular staff member move with purpose towards the restrooms. I put my coffee down and headed towards the same direction, expecting to have to help save a life. Instead, what I witnessed gave me proof the good people still do exist. The staff member, who I later come to find out was named,”Lewis”, went into the men’s room to check if there were any men in there. After he was sure the rest room was empty, he allowed some of these elderly women to use the men’s room. A couple men did show up to use the restroom when there were a couple women left inside the men’s room. Lewis explained to the gentleman the situation and they were happy to wait. Now, this is where it gets kind of weird. A third man walked up to use the restroom. When Lewis explained the situation, the man got upset. When Lewis assured the man that it would only be a couple of minutes and how the men that were there before him didn’t mind the 2 minute wait, the man called Lewis a “Bigot”. Now, this is weird because the guy was white, Lewis, the staff member, was black and every single passenger on that elderly bus were white. So, a white man calls a black man of being a bigot because he allowed white elderly women to use the men’s room. The last woman left the men’s room literally 60 seconds after the weird man walked up. To Lewis’s credit, he smiled, opened the men’s room door for the weird man and simply said, “Have a great day sir. Safe travels “. Any one of those elderly women could have been someone’s grandmother or great grandmother. To hear this weird little man call a staff member a bigot because he showed kindness and patience to others was st best disturbing. But to watch that same staff member show that same weird little man the same kindness and patience he himself chastised him for was beautiful. To think, I only stopped in because I was running late and needed a coffee. Now, I’m a customer for life.
2 + hr wait for showers, showers have no water pressure, only thing good about this loves is the play list, fuel island always backed up, barely ever any parking
First coffee of the day, this was a super easy and very convenient stop. Mrs. K. visited the ladies and I stopped in the men's. Both were clean enough for the green button.
The coffee area was stocked. We had no trouble finding a proper sized cup, adding creamer and a few ice cubes. The grind-to-order worked perfectly and we had a great coffee to start the day.
My first Love's in New Jersey and I've been to over 150 across the country. This one was great!
