I would give them 7 stars if it was possible. I was traveling to NYC and wanted to spend my free Sunday with horses. I found them on the internet and what a wonderful find! I had a very pleasant day with horses and a lovely lesson with Chelsea. Very professional but friendly as well. Nice large fields in the nature, good quality horses that are well cared… everything was perfect. Already missing the place…
I’ve had the privilege of riding and working with Chelsea and the rest of the Penwick team for 12+ years now, and I would never go anywhere else. With Chelsea’s instruction I moved from a beginner rider as a kid who lacked confidence to a very confident rider, competed in recognized Eventing, and taught beginner to intermediate lessons. She takes care and great patience with each and every one of her students and keeps their safety and that of the horse in mind at all times. The standard of care horses receive at her farm is top notch; I would never keep a horse anywhere else! One visit to the farm and you’ll see what a wonderful team of horses and people they have, led by a fantastic owner/ trainer.
I have been riding at Penwick Eventing and training with Chelsea Nix since 2014. I came to the barn after more than a decade break from riding lessons and interested in transitioning from huntseat to eventing. Under Chelsea Nix's instruction, I feel like I have truly learned to ride for the first time in my life and am no longer just a passenger on a push-button horse. I began an affordable lease on a TB mare and a year later, bought her. Chelsea is a phenomenal matchmaker, and is a fair and honest businesswoman. Under Chelsea's instruction, I successfully competed in several unrecognized events and recognized events. With her direct and clear communication, Chelsea not only instilled greater courage and confidence in me, she has transformed my riding; not only physically but my comprehension of how it is done, why it is done, and how it should and should not look and feel. I also have had my mare in training with her, and I was thrilled to see and feel the changes in my horse's balance, self-carriage, and transitions after the first week. The horse care at Penwick is second to none, provided by wonderful and knowledgeable staff, and the atmosphere is supportive, drama-free, and friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend Chelsea Nix and Penwick Eventing, and I'm proud to be a member of the team.
Chelsea manages and owns a beautiful property. You immediately disconnect from stress and hustle of your own life. As you drive up the winding driveway and leave the woods, the view is an expansive open pasture with cross-country jumps on one side and the dressage and training area on the other side of the road. Chelsea has a tremendous amount of patience and committed to helping a rider achieve their personal riding goals. Her staff have always been polite and professional.
Penwick is a fantastic farm that is always adding and improving. In just a short time they’ve added a water jump complex, built a large cross country course, and expanded turnout for the horses. The barn atmosphere is very friendly and supportive no matter your riding level.
Chelsea is the type of trainer that turns timid riders into confident and capable horsemen. She also goes above and beyond organizing multiple clinics a year and taking her clients to shows, hunter paces, and other outings.
All in all Penwick is a beautiful farm full of wonderful people.
