Mark has been my teacher for about 7-8 years, and he also taught my nephew for several years as well. He is a master musician and teacher, patient, funny, with an encyclopedic acumen for music history, particularly with jazz. He believes that anyone can learn to play, and engages students at any age, and any level of ability. He was the first and only teacher that I cold called, and I consider it as a tremendous privilege to have him as my piano teacher.

I started looking for a piano teacher for my 10-year-old daughter, Izzy, but had no idea where to begin. She was a complete beginner who had recently shown interest in playing—we have a piano at home—so we tried a few music schools. Unfortunately, none of them were the right fit. Izzy learns best in a one-on-one environment, so we eventually looked for a private teacher. That’s when we found Mark Greenberg of Prime Time Music, and what a world of difference it has made.
Izzy has had a fantastic experience studying piano with Mark. From the very first lesson, it was clear how knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate he is about both music and teaching. He explains concepts in a way that’s easy for her to understand, and he meets her exactly where she is.
What I appreciate most is Mark’s ability to tailor each lesson to her learning style. He makes learning fun—whether she’s finding notes on the keyboard with a dry-erase marker or playing “guess the note” by sound, he always finds creative ways to keep her engaged. Every week, she looks forward to her lesson.
As a parent, I’m able to sit in and observe, and I’ve been consistently impressed. His lessons are well-structured, enjoyable, and truly inspiring. Izzy leaves each session feeling confident and accomplished. She recently conquered an Ed Sheeran song, and she can now play Für Elise by Beethoven. She’s already excited to try her hands at a song from Wicked next!
I highly recommend Mark Greenberg to anyone looking for a skilled, supportive, and engaging piano teacher—no matter the age or experience level. He has made an incredible impact on Izzy’s musical journey.

I’m an adult and after 30 years I decided to get back to music and learn composition. Mark quickly assessed my skill level and tailored my lessons to meet my needs.

Mark’s depth of knowledge has enabled me to work on numerous fun and interesting pieces. I’ve had a chance to work on arranging everything from string quartets to brass quintets and woodwind ensembles. Eventually I was able to put those skills towards writing an original piece for a full orchestra.

Simultaneously, I’ve learned more about melody, harmony as well as orchestration and musical forms. Besides working on the fine details, Mark also has taught me to see the bigger picture and understand how all the parts fit together.

Mark’s love of music and joy of teaching clearly shines through. He makes learning fun and easy.

Since Mark has moved, I am happy to make the occasional 65-mile trip to continue our lessons. It is well worth it!

I can't recommend Mark enough for anyone looking to learn about music composition, theory and arranging!
