It was an absolute pleasure to spend a weekend camping here with our scout troop. From the beautiful views, open space and hiking trails to the great fishing and being easily accessible as a local trip, Sauerland checks every box. The staff are absolutely amazing and very attentive to our needs and requests. We were thrilled to have learned about this camping center and will absolutely return in the future.
My Troop spend a cold weekend in December at the youth center's upper campsite and we were NOT disappointed. Views, of both the reservoir and the valley below, are amazing. Jay, the grounds caretaker, was super helpful and kind from answering all our questions to getting us water, which is a challenge at 17 degrees. Thank you, Jay! We look forward to many more Troop events at the campsite.
Sauerland is a wonderful outdoor center with stunning views and plenty of space to hold large groups. It’s well maintained by staff and has water on premise with a pavilion. Jay made our experience hosting our event seamless and memorable. We will be back! Thank you!
This was a great place. We reserved it for our Scout Troop and there were fields to camp in, a pavilion with power, fire rings, porto john, trails etc. The care taker was really friendly and very helpful. It’s not part of round valley state park and a reservation is required- just follow the process and you will have a great time. Great space for group events.
Was looking for a place to hike and came across the youth center at Sourland. Upon entering I saw trail entrances and gates. I drove up to the gates and saw no trespassing signs so I stopped on the road/driveway. I was met by a man that was the caretaker there and he was super nice to me, explaining that this was private property. He said I could continue up the drive to turn around and explained how to go about contacting the proper people to access the youth center. After a pleasant encounter and a quick look I am considering booking a family picnic on the grounds.
